#showtherealyou Chloe Wilson AKA @sparkleondarling

I have been so excited to share this weeks #showtherealyou segment with you. This week I am featuring a dear friend of mine… Chloe Wilson. Chloe and I have created a beautiful friendship all thanks to social media. We met at a Lorna Jane event and have since stayed in touch. We both preached the Move Nourish Believe philosophy. Chloe always keeps it real and has the biggest heart of gold. She seriously spreads kindness around like glitter, leaving a smile on your face after chatting with her or being in her precense. Chloe has recently started a new journey with her amazing all things self love blog @sparkleondarling. I hope you all love getting to know the gorgeous Chloe a little more. I know you will as she is just beautiful.

Chloe Wilson AKA @sparkleondarling

Favourite hot drink?

In the morning most definitely a coffee! Specifically an almond milk Piccolo. At night though I love winding down with a beautiful organic herbal tea.

Can you tell me who the REAL Chloe Wilson is?

I like to believe I'm the girl next door. My journey hasn't been easy, I've worked hard to get to where I am, I'm very much my own person, I laugh a lot (often at myself), I'm can be loud and I’m not afraid to share my struggles throughout my journey towards my best self and life. Being that girl next door, a friendly face, raw and real.. to me is everything. I'm not perfect, I will always be a work in progress, and I'm ok with that.

Tell me about a day in the life of Chloe? (can be a work day or a weekend day)

A typical day for me starts with some 'me time' or self care. I like to begin with a homemade breakfast and a coffee and sit by myself and really enjoy it, no distractions (meaning NO tech). I then like to follow this up with some inspiration and motivation from a Podcast, loving The Slow Home Podcast at the moment. If it's a work day (Monday to Friday for me), I then work from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, with hopefully a nice lunch time walk on my break. Once home I like to relax for a few minutes with a cup of tea before I cook dinner. My nights are also pretty relaxed, I will either do some writing or just chill and watch some Netflix. On the weekends during the day after my little self care routine and inspo sesh I like to get my washing done and then head out to a wholesome breakfast or some farmers markets. My afternoons and nights on the weekends usually consist of meal prepping for the week ahead, writing and some more relaxing. I use to be very go, go, go and constantly put a lot of pressure on myself to get everything done, but now I’ve let go of that guilt, what gets done gets done, and that's enough.

Congratulations on the launch of your new blog @sparkleondarling. What drove you to just chase your dream?

There has always been a fire burning in my heart to write, it’s like meditation for me when I do. Since starting my account on Instagram I’ve realised that people actually enjoy reading what I write (which still blows me away sometimes!), so blogging for me was a given progression as part of my journey. I’m certain that this is part of my true path, and it’s only just the beginning.

What do you think will attract women to your site?

I hope the fact that I'm your everyday woman chasing her dreams and making her passions a reality. I've worked hard to get to where I am and I've had many falls along the way. I want to inspire others to live their best lives from a place that is relatable, raw and real.

What is your favourite quote or mantra?

'Follow your heart' – Unknown. I love it so much that it was actually my first tattoo, right over my heart (a little something pretty personal about me that I've not shared with my online community before!).

How often do you find the time to move your body?

When it comes to exercise these days I focus on doing what I love and what makes me feel good, I never do anything that feels like a chore. Walking is my main exercise at the moment as it's the easiest for me to incorporate into my day. I like to walk around the city on my lunch breaks and wind down with an afternoon walk on the weekends. I'm am though planning to join a yoga studio again soon which I'm really looking forward to.

Favourite activewear?

I will always be a Lorna Jane girl at heart. Move Nourish Believe is what started my journey, and I will be forever grateful for the philosophy and the opportunities Lorna Jane has given me. Plus LJ tights make me feel amazing.

Go to healthy recipe?

Oh my gosh I have so many! I love Alice's 'Breakfast Loaf', I'm also a big fan of all of Jessica Sepel's (@JSHealth) recipes and create religiously from her beautiful book Living the Healthy Life. I also have in the works some of my own recipes which is really exciting, I will be sharing these on my blog in the future.

What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/business/ social media account?

Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can. I put off starting work on my blog for a long time. I think a part of me was constantly pushing it back waiting for a better time, a better me, a better everything to begin. I eventually gave into my perfectionist personality and self doubt earlier this year and just began, I chose LOVE over fear, and a few months later SPARKLE on darling was launched. There's nothing to be scared of, not really in the big scheme of things, I say just go for it. The world needs your SPARKLE.

#showtherealyou Dan Cross AKA @entrepreneur_dad

This week I am super excited to introduce to you all Mr Daniel Cross from @entrepreneur_dad. I came across Dan's account while following his gorgeous wife's Megan's account @among.my.wild. I was really impressed by his bio stating that he was a dad first and then everything else. It made me smile. Dan is a hard working, successful business man and entrepreneur. He shares with his followers his lifestyle of a successful businessman and how he tackles family life and proves that you CAN have both. I know you are going to love this weeks #showtherealyou because weather you are a stay at home parent or juggling work and family I know you will learn something from Dan.

Favourite hot drink?

Im writing this at night which makes me think of Tea but I know my whole day just doesn’t work without my morning coffee so lets go with that, I’ll have a Picolo with honey thanks.

Can you tell me who the REAL Dan Cross is?

I’m 27, living in Brisbane with my family Megan, Nala and Fox. I have always wanted to win; at everything. My background was in rugby league before a series of major operations cut my career short. With an overactive mind and a competitive spirit I found solace in starting my first business at 21 in the marketing space. Finding success over my first few years I had caught the business bug and have since become involved in many other business’s that span across property, sports merchandise and memorabilia, promotions and cafe’s as well consulting for individuals and business’s. I have no sense of contentment when it comes to creating business’s, I genuinely love the thrill from succeeding; and the bonds that you create by overcoming challenges with great teams. I think the real Dan is equal parts soft and hard, scattered and relaxed. I was raised by a single Mum that instilled a huge amount of strength in me and was constantly making me feel bigger than I was. I think all parents tell their kid’s they can do anything but for some reason even to this day when she says it, I believe her. Growing up with with all girls for most of my life gave me a level of empathy and respect I often don’t see from other men and whilst I hated it as a young boy, I remember clearly my Mum telling me I’d thank her one day. At my core I want to help others and always feel at my best when I am focused on lifting someone else; that doesn’t mean I’m always in that lane and I’m sure I could be better. People close to me would say I’m in my own world most of the time, I don’t get caught up in the day to day conversations of most people. I find myself wander as soon as I here people drift into negativity and I mentally start escaping the conversation. I think complaining about a problem without actively seeking a solution would be my number one frustration and that is probably what portrays me as hard sometimes. If you spend time with me you will here a million ideas in a short space of time, sometimes it would be nice to turn it off but its also that imagination that makes me Dan. I once read that to be successful in business all you need to learn to do is think like a producer not a consumer, I’m the definition of this. I can’t buy a Coffee without wondering about where the beans came from, how they were imported, roasted, extracted and now being served in a trendy Cafe and sold for $4. I guess that thinking is how I have ended up in so many different industries. My ideal day would be spent in open spaces – either the land or the sea with my family, some acoustic music, a good book and a beer.

Tell me about a day in the life of Dan?

Well I stopped setting my alarm because my trusty friend Nala arrives pretty close to the 5am mark each morning. She brings her pillow, bunny rabbit and lion with her each day and announces herself by yelling at the top of her voice “its morning time!”
We all have a cuddle for a few minutes before the day kicks off. After our morning yoghurt and ABC kids session I head into my office with a goal of getting in before anybody else. We’ll have over 100 contractors in and out of our building between 7- 10am so I try and make it for 6.30 to have my coffee, re-go over my days to-do list, get myself in the right headspace and I’d normally scan over my longer term goals to give myself some energy. Between 7-10 is what I would call my prime time, 90% of my companies production will be determined by what happens in those hours. Its a high intensity period so I follow it by normally taking 30 minutes to myself. Then I have a team huddle with my backend office staff to go over the day and address any issues before I'm normally booked up with conference calls, client meetings or recruitment workshops. If its a day care day I will normally go and grab Nala, she always looks forward to what surprise Dad brings so I normally have something up my sleeve. Then its about an hour of play time before dinner, which is always together and at the dinner table. Its worth mentioning because I feel like its an old tradition which is lost in some households. Then its a bath and book before bed, which is hopefully all achieved by 7.00pm and fingers crossed Megan has nailed a similar routine with Fox. Then we get to spend some time together before Megs hit the hay early, knowing she will probably be up to feed Fox in a few hours. When the house is sleeping I normally start again. Jim Rohn said “don’t start tomorrow until you finish it today” so I like to get my day mapped out the night before so I don’t have any anxiety when I wake up and lose my productivity time to planning. After that I normally take a walk and make some calls before coming home to read or podcast. At the moment I finish each day using the app ‘Headspace' to get a quick meditation in before going to sleep.

Congratulations on the launch of your new Instagram page @entrepreneur_dad

What drove you to create the account? I guess I got frustrated hearing the same questions… How do you manage? Where do you find the time? So I started searching for ways to help answer them. I figured why not start by documenting not only how I manage my family and business, but how I find Joy in the challenge and that if you look harder enough you will find they both compliment each other. I have watched lots of people throw away their own personal ambitions due to a limiting belief that says if I want to have a partner or a family I can’t have this. My goal was simple, I wanted to let people know that you can have both!

You say your a daddy first and everything else second? How do you juggle this as I know run quite a few businesses?

Big goals take big energy and that energy in life or business can often be defined as purpose. In my experience I have found that the strongest purpose you can have is not associated with self serving activities. We all know there is more joy in giving then their is in receiving and it is harder to give up on someone else than it is ourselves. Unfortunately, although we know this to be true we tend to have self gain at the forefront of our mind in our day to day activities. Its as if self interest is the default setting until either life happens or you set an intention to think outside of yourself. For me, Life happened. When I found out I was going to be a Dad for the first time it was the clearest I have ever been on what I needed to achieve and more importantly who I needed to become. Being a Dad is a constant reminder that its not about me anymore. Its about my family and the best thing I can do for them is to be a great example and that’s blurrier than it sounds. I think most people are mistaken by thinking that being an example is about how you act, where as I have found that it is in how you react that you normally let yourself and those around you down. When times are tough, when the house has had no sleep, when someone cuts you off at the intersection or your staff make a costly error, its in these moments that you need to be an example through your reactions. A great thing to ask yourself is, how would I react in this moment if I knew my kids are going to react the same way? Thinking this way means I’ve always got my Dad hat on, no matter what the deal is or the meetings are, I’m thinking about making sure I’m a role model through all of my decisions. That one question has also been the catalyst that has made me not quit at things when they get tough. I guess by saying first I’m Dad then there is everything else is my way of acknowledging that if I didn’t have the responsibility of being a Dad then perhaps I wouldn’t have everything else because I wouldn’t have developed the same thought patterns or drive to be successful.

When it comes to juggling I could right for days about this one question and by no means do I think i’m an expert and I’m sure Megan would tell you I’ve still got some improvements to make; but if I could give everyone one tip it would be to use “flight mode” on your phone. I’ve been doing this for about 9 months and its been a game changer for me as a parent. Set yourself time zones when your phone is no longer an option, by using flight mode it means no social, emails, calls, texts – anything! In the past I found myself constantly being dragged to my phone like my time was at the mercy of notifications. After reminding myself the difference between whats urgent and whats important I took the leap and now my phone doesn’t come off flight mode in the morning until I’ve left the house. This means bedtime’s and breakfast can be phone free!

Can you share a favourite #dadlifemoment?

Nala was recently asked “where’s Dad today?” She quickly responded "his hitting his goals.” I loved this moment when Megan told me about it because ever since Nala was born I've never told her I was going to work. Every day I leave the house and Nala asks where I’m going I have 4 varied responses. Hititng some goals, following my passion, building the business or helping some people. I figure if my kids grow up thinking that when you leave the house you go in pursuit of one of those 4 things they will be in for an amazing life.

You are a successful entrepreneur, can you tell us a little more about this lifestyle?

Well it’s a roller coaster and as a family we ride the highs and lows together but the benefits are always there. At the end of the day we can create my schedule together and I can always be there for Megs in those s#@t hit the fan moments you have as a parent. We have been able to combine business with pleasure and often turn a 1 day meeting into a 5 day holiday across the country or overseas. The best thing is we have choice and we have control. I recently posted that I’m not an entrepreneur because I love money but because I don’t want to ask someone else for permission to spend time with my family. That is the greatest lifestyle benefit I can imagine.

What is your favourite quote or mantra?

"If you sleep with Dogs you get Flee’s” I’m a huge believer in the law of association and that you are the sum of the 5 people you spend the majority of your time with. I think its important that people look at the categories of life they are trying to achieve in and then intentionally seek out the best five people they have access too in those areas.

Something you practice everyday?

Alone time. It’s never long but I make sure I get it, normally though a late night walk.

What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/business/social media account?

Whether it be a business, blog or social media I think you need to understand that you will be rewarded based on the value that you add to the community you’re engaged with. The value that you add is limited by the value within; so focus on your own growth as often as you can. You will find that as you get better the game gets bigger. Secondly, be a good boss to yourself, imagine the greatest work environment in the world where you are given recognition, support, encouragement, resources, forgiveness, autonomy, competition etc and than be sure to provide all those things to yourself. I have found over the years that the most common form of self harm in business is self talk. Be kind to yourself.

Lastly, what would be your ultimate date night look like with your gorgeous wife Megan?

"Ultimate" is a big claim…Megs has made a lot of sacrifices for our family and no doubt I wouldn’t have been able to achieve a lot of what I have without her in my corner. So the perfect date night for me would be to somehow give it all back to her and I reckon rather than dinner and a movie it would be something like this. We'd start out in a hot air balloon and after an amazing flight we start the decent onto a beautiful wide open space. We can see horse's grazing on the rolling hills and a beautiful old white timber house with wrap around veranda’s. We see the smoke coming from the Chimney and Meg’s spots an Easel set up on the back deck as if someone is about to start painting the picturesque views. Just as she’s thinking how perfect this place is and how it has everything she has always wanted she spots our kids running around in the paddocks. As they see the giant Balloon they look up to wave and by this time Megan has spotted our animals are all in the yard too. As she turns inquisitively towards me all I say is “welcome home”.

#showtherealyou Caroline Fenton AKA @avidivababy

It has been lovely having a little break from blogging but my gosh I have missed it. I truly enjoy writing, even though I have never been great at it. My teachers always said that I write exactly how I talk haha. True, but that's the beauty of blogging, you write in the style you want too, it's your blog.

One of the segments on my blog that I truly love sharing with you all is my #showtherealyou segment where I get to feature some amazing people and interview them about themselves. I learn so much from these inspiring people.

So this week I am kicking back off the #showtherealyou feature with the gorgeous Caroline Fenton. Caroline is a cappuccino loving women (as am I), that is a wife to her hubby Tony, a mumma to a handsome little boy Alfie, a wifey and a business owner to the most adorable mums and bubs online store @avidivababy.

So put your feet up with your hot drink of choice and take 10minutes to sit down and read about this gorgeous women…

CAROLINE FENTON…

Favourite hot drink?

Definitely coffee. A good hot frothy cappuccino, the more choc powder sprinkles the better.

Can you tell me who the REAL Caroline Fenton is?

The REAL me!? Well that’s a question!! I am a Brit, living in Perth with my hubby, our little boy Alfie (now 2.5yo!) and our cat, Tony. We’ve been in Aus for 9 years… after living in Brisbane and Port Hedland, we’ve finally settled (well, maybe!) in Perth. My background is in Psychology and Marketing but I have also been an English Teacher, a Project Manager, an Exec Assistant, and now a mummy! Being a SAHM, I wanted to start up something that was for me, and that is how Avidiva came about.

I love a good café, and a breaky out and ending the day on the sofa with Lindt and Netflix. I love the outdoors, exploring and travelling – all things I don’t do enough of these days! I love cooking but go through phases as to how much I do, and also how well we eat!! If I’m on my own, I’m mostly found attached to my laptop… otherwise, you’ll find me picnicking in the park with my boy!

Tell me about a day in the life of Caroline?

For the last few months, this looks like… being woken up by Alfie at some crazy hour (I try not to accept anything before 6am from him!!). We then have a few tantrums over cold feet (but not wanting socks on!) and which bowl is acceptable to eat weetbix from, and which one of 20 spoons will be ok to use! We usually put some tunes on, have a cup of tea, and then get ready for the day. If it’s a daycare day, then I pack up our bags (me with my laptop!) and get out the door asap… drop the little tinker off, then head to yoga. Sometimes a coffee with a friend, or a biz catch up, then back home or chill out in a café to work, email, blog, post social media content, source suppliers, update the site, run ads…you name it! A trip to the post office before daycare pick up, then home for the usual dinner, bath, bed routine before collapsing on the sofa!

What drove you to create your business @avidivababy?

My little boy was born early at 30 weeks (my membranes ruptured at 22 weeks), so between that and his NICU stay, we spent almost 6 months living at the hospital. A crazy and scary time. Pretty emotional and super tiring! My start to mum life was not the best. As we gradually got used to each other, the anxiety, and the sleepless nights, I decided I wanted to do something for myself that wasn’t ‘being mum’ and also something that could reach out and connect with other mamas. I have created an ever evolving collection of beautiful (I think!) and all natural products for bubs, and am working on creating our community through The Mum Collective too I wanted to raise a bit of awareness and an easy way to shop natural alternatives, being so important for vulnerable little ones. Not with a big agenda, or any huge eco conscience… just a place for mums to source stylish, natural products and for friends to gift too.

Winter Rose with her Finn & Emma Rattle Lovie KELLAN ELEPHANT comfort toy (pictured above).

Winter Rose with some of the natural balms Avidiva have to offer to help your little one sleep and be calm you and relax (pictured below).

We love using Kiss Ready Baby Natural Relax Balm and Badger Balm ORGANIC BABY BALM.

What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a new business?

To go for it! It is so rewarding. You learn so much. It’s great fun wearing all the different hats. It is also by no means easy, it’s not a money fixer and it’s not without hard work. If you are able to, or have the opportunity to, then it really is a great experience! Find something that makes your heart happy and give it the best shot you can…

What is your favourite quote or mantra?

Ooooh… maybe ‘don’t let anyone dull your sparkle’. It can be applied to everything and a lovely reminder to just be who we are, exactly as we are!

How often do you find the time to move your body?

I used to be a BIG fitness fan. I would run almost every morning, and teach Les Mills classes at the local gym. I would run half marathons, and triathlons, swim in my lunch break… loved it all!! After pregnancy complications and not such great health, I cut back completely and forced myself to take it easy. Plenty of walks for me! Nowadays I am a little bit obsessed with yoga (something I never had the time for pre bub!). We get out on walks and bike rides as a family, but no crazy gym classes for me!

Favourite activewear?

Just leggings and a tee – simple here!

Something you practice daily?

Eating chocolate, tee hee! I try to get to yoga as much as I can.

What does self love mean to you?

Just listening to your body. Not pushing yourself or beating yourself up. Not trying to be all things, or something you are not. Taking time to enjoy the little things.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us all a little more about yourself and your family Caroline.

#showtherealyou Tahlia Aubusson AKA @housewifestyle

This weeks #showtherealyou girl, is someone I have been fan girling over for a while now. Her name is Tahlia Aubusson. If you are not already following her then you should as I know you will fall in love with her as much as I have.

Tahlia runs her Instagram account @housewifestyle and a beautifully, raw, written lifestyle and motherhood blog.

Tahlia is a loving wife to her husband, a gorgeous mumma to her beautiful daughter Ambria, a singer, a self proclaimed for house and fashion, a writer and a photographer. I believe she is also one of the most kind hearted people I follow on social media. She has the most beautiful photos on her Instagram page but her words of honesty truly touch so many hearts.

Put your feet up, make a cup of hot cocoa and take 10 minutes to know the gorgeous Tahlia Aubusson AKA @housewifestyle…

Favourite Hot drink?

Hot chocolate, sadly I am not a coffee drinker.

Who is the Real Tahlia Aubusson?

I am in my element at home, i am such a homebody. I love rainy days where I can get all cosy inside and watch a movie with my husband and daughter Ambria. My true passion is singing and song writing, another reason I love being at home, this is what I do in my spare time. I consider myself quite funny and I’m always the one to make my friends laugh, I absolutely not not care if I make a fool of myself in fact ill do it just to make other people happy, I am down to earth, easy to talk to and genuinely just want to help and connect with others. I am all about uplifting other women and have absolutely zero tolerance for any individual who tries to intimidate or discredit another person, if you don’t have something nice to say then don’t say anything to me at all. I have the most beautiful marriage and I am so blessed to truly live each day with my soul mate, James, he is 100% my best friend whom I love indefinitely. I am fiercely loyal to the beautiful people in my life, once you are in my circle I will support you and defend you no questions asked. I LOVE being a mother and can honestly say I haven’t had one day that I haven’t absolutely loved being Ambrias mother. I hate the gym but I love competitive team sports! Up until I had Ambria I had played rep soccer all my life, I also used to dance and sing professionally in stage shows across NSW. My life now revolves around raising a beautiful human being and immersing myself in my work and passions in my spare time. I have a successful home beauty business which I open 2 days a week (Monday & Tuesday) and I am thankfully booked out in advance. I love having those 2 days to work hard to be able to contribute financially to my family whilst still having the rest of the week free to be with my daughter. If I was to describe myself I would say I am arty, I love my photography, styling, fashion and music, I am a softie, though sometimes I can be head strong I will easily cry. I am happy with the simple life and it will always be enough despite me wanting to always grow and improve I am so thankful for the life I already have, I am a huge animal lover and have 2 dogs, I love food way to much and I’m constantly at war with myself over the amount of my chocolate consumption. I am happy, grateful, fun and honest and believe everything in balance, except maybe chocolate.

Could you please share a day in the life of Tahlia?

Our average day starts by me being woken up from Ambrias chattering in her cot, its the best and sweetest alarm clock ever. We always start the day by playing, ill chase her up the hall to change her nappy, we will put music on and have a dance around while I make her breakfast. We always go daily to buy fresh ingredients for dinner, after our grocery shop we will go for a walk to meet friends at the park for morning tea, I luckily have lots of friends with toddlers so we are always having play dates, I always park on the opposite end of town so i have to walk to get groceries, to the park and then back to the car. During the week Ambria has lots of different activities, kindy gym, swimming, mothers group and now she has also started 2 days of day care and ballet. On the days she has day care I work from home doing my singing, recording, blogging and the good old house work… someone has to do it, I have also started dedicating one of those days to doing something relaxing for myself like getting a massage. Afternoons james will come home and spend time playing with Ambria, we will usually cook dinner as a family and 50% of the week we have friends over for dinner, our home is the hub to all my friends.

What drove you to start your Instagram account @housewifestyle

I love fashion, photography and styling so wanted a place where I could showcase my passions and use it as an artistic outlet. I wanted to connect and form friendships with other mothers to benefit from their experiences. I also wanted to build a platform for me to share my upcoming music. I believe having these social media platforms has helped me maintain my passions and identity since becoming a mum.

What do you think attracts women to your social media platforms?

My page is full of prettiness but my captions and words are full of heart. I love being able to showcase a visually beautiful page that gives people and insight to who I am whilst maintaining a rateable and very real aspect through sharing real feelings and experiences that make people laugh or cry. I try to always respond to every single enquiry or comment for a more personal connection and have made beautiful friendships along the way by doing so.

What advice would you give people wanting to start a blog?

Only do it because you enjoy it, make it for you before you make it for someone else. I started this journey because its an outlet for me, I enjoy the calmness I get when writing and the excitement I get when taking photos, I love it! A following will come naturally with persistence, creative content, heartfelt or interesting words and passion. Dont give in to gimmicks and want quick success, you wont build a genuine community by doing so, be patient, be yourself and just enjoy doing your own thing.

Favourite Quote or Mantra to live by?

“ Be yourself, people don’t have to like you and you don’t have to care” I love this because since my early teenage years I’ve had more stones thrown at me than a witch in the 17th century! I let it hurt me so badly that for many years I had no clue who I was, who I wanted to be, what I was doing wrong or why I was a target, now as an adult I know the answer to all of those things, I am confident and content with who I am and I don’t apologise for it, i embrace it and share it with others, if they are not accepting I truly do not care.

What is something you practice daily in relation to self love?

When getting dressed I’ve stopped picking apart my body, I now focus on how my outfit looks, not my size or figure, I actively tell myself positive things and don’t focus on my flaws. I buy clothing that is flattering on me and makes me feel good,I learnt what style suits my shape and accept the way I am. I am constantly reminding myself of whats important in life and prioritise what matters. every night I will finish my day with gratitude, no matter how stressed I am ill lay in bed and think about all the things I love about my life, all the things that make me happy, whats important and whats not important and very quickly the things that had been niggling at me making me feel insecure and quickly become insignificant.

How often do you move your body?

Ill be honest here, this could use a little work. I try to go for a walk most days and will do small home work outs while Ambria sleeps, it makes me feel so energised on the days that I do make moving a priority and if you are an anxiety sufferer like myself its so important to make some form of exercise a part of your daily routine.

Favourite items of clothing in your wardrobe?

Can I say two?? I cant decide!!!! Id have to say my flowy elegant Zimmermann dresses and my casual comfy Spell Designs dresses! All are my favourites lol.

Favourite Mumlife moment you wish to share?

How on earth do you pick a favourite mum life moment. There have been so many that have filled my heart with so much love that i never knew existed. From her first smile, first steps, first hug, her crazy dance moves and bursting laughing its hard to pick one favourite but one thing that makes us smile and laugh every single day is when james comes home from work he will yell from the door “Fee Fi Fo Fum I smell the blood of an Aubusson” and Ambria will squeal and run with excitement, james and Ambie will wrestle and tickle for half an hour of huge giggles, its the highlight of my day.

A mumlife moment where you have felt overwhelmed?

For me this was probably before Ambria was even born. I suffered multiple miscarriages and recently shared my personal story about this on my blog. I guess my whole pregnancy with Ambria was a very stressful time for me and I had many moments where I cried hysterically from fear and anxiety. I am so blessed that she has been a dream baby, allowing me to heal and have a beautiful transition into motherhood letting go of sadness.

Do you make time for a date night? If so what do you get up to?

Luckily James and I get to have an uninterrupted evening together most nights, when Ambria goes to bed at 7.30 we will always sit down and have dinner together and talk, usually followed by watching an episode from a series we are hooked by. We actually prefer doing things as a family on the weekends but every so often my mother will take Ambie for the night and we will get dressed up and go out for a nice dinner just the 2 of us. Most weekends we have all out friends over for a get together, whilst we are not alone its still adult time we enjoy together and of course we still ALWAYS have a snuggle at night!

#showtherealyou – Lou Carter AKA founder of @babylunoshop

My #showtherealyou girl this week is a #girlboss, a #mumma to two boys, a #basketballerswife,  a #traveller… and I could go on and on with the #hashtag titles for Mrs Lou Carter.
From the first time I spoke to Lou (over email), I was inspired straight away. She was so professional about collaborating together for her business Baby Luno,  yet she had such a calming, nurturing, aura about her and was so supportive to a hormonal pregnant mumma (in my first trimester) like me. I instantly clicked with Lou and we have continued to grow and blossom our friendship since that very first email over 6 months ago.
I haven’t actually met Lou in person because she has been running her business from Europe (even though it is Australian based), while her husband follows his dreams as a professional basketballer. I cannot wait till she returns as we can have a wine (maybe post breastfeed though haha).
I know you will love learning about how Lou manages her online business, deals with the everyday mumlife challenges and  travels Europe.
I introduce to you all …
Lou carter AKA founder of @babylunoshop
Favourite hot drink?

COFFEEEEE! I get way too excited when I about to have coffee and I drink way too much of it. I like it strong a completely black. The coffee is terrible in the UK (sorry UK readers) and I miss my Melbourne long blacks dearly.

Can you tell me who the REAL Lou Carter is?

Wow! Tough question! The short version – I am a mother of 2 boys (1 and 3 yrs old), wife to a professional basketball player, living in a different city every year and founder of online baby shop, babyluno.com

Here is the longer version…

I am originally from Sweden but I have hardly lived there. From age 2, I grew up in Luxembourg (a small country in the middle of Europe) then went to Sweden for 3 years of high school and then went to Australia to travel and met my (now) husband. I was head over heels so I decided to move to Australia for University at UNSW in Sydney.

My husband is a professional basketball player and usually his contracts are about 8-10 months so we move around a lot for his career. In the past 10 years we have lived in Sydney two separate times, Melbourne three separate times, twice in Adelaide, a stint in Perth, a year in Auckland New Zealand, three different cities in Sweden, lived in Spain for a few months and are currently living in Plymouth in the U.K. If someone asked me where my home is, I wouldn’t be able to give them an answer. My blood is Swedish and very proud of that beautiful country but when I am in Sweden, I feel like a little bit of a tourist. I probably feel more at home in Australia now but I definitely feel like a tourist there too. I do have 2 little Aussie boys now though who have that beautiful Aussie accent :). I am pretty good at just making wherever we are, our home. Home is definitely just where the heart is.

My two sons are 3 and 16 months. I am absolutely loving being a mother. There are definitely tough days, especially when dealing with sleep deprivation and we live far away from family and friends so we don’t get much of a break but seeing these creatures, that I made, develop is the coolest thing in the world. To be honest, I had no big interest in kids before I had my own. I was very career driven, loved traveling and loved a party but now I feel that children are the most important thing in life – both mine and other children. So that is one way how the REAL me has changed a lot in recent years.

My newest baby is my online baby shop called Baby Luno babyluno.com, which is based in Australia. My career background is in marketing and especially online marketing so I decided to make use of that and joining it with my passion of babies. It is only over a year old so it is still taking off but I love having my own business especially as a mother. I have something that is mine and something to do other than just being a mum and I am continuously learning new things about having your own business. Running the business having two toddlers around comes with some challenges and running a business from overseas is also challenging at times. The time difference means that the best time to chat to customers and suppliers is in my morning but this is usually when I have the kids. I do have a lot of mum-guilt as I hate being on my laptop or phone in front of the kids so I really try not to be, only for a few urgent matters. However, my husband does help with the kids a lot. Just as I am supportive of my husband’s dreams, he is incredibly supportive of my dreams and goals so we make it work quite well.

These are the things that make up the REAL Louise Carter but other than that I am quite open-minded and go with the flow, but also quite passionate about things I care about. I try and always look on the bright side of life, I laugh quite easily (so my husband thinks he’s the funniest person ever), I am very close to my family even though we are all spread out, love meeting new people and love sports!

What drove you to create your Instagram account and online business Baby Luno?

I have my personal Instagram account @mrsloucarter that I created mainly to keep in touch with all family and friends around the world and to keep them up to date with what we are doing. Since we live so far away from all our friends and family, it is a nice way to share with everyone what happened that day since I don’t have many others to chat to.

When we were living in New Zealand when my first boy was just a baby, I found it so difficult to find the baby products that I wanted and I would try to find them online but only American websites would pop up that didn’t ship to where I was so the idea for Baby Luno was born. I finally launched the website when I was 7 months pregnant with my second baby. It was maybe not ideal timing but also because of that, I was my main audience so I would market the way that I would find attractive and bring in products that I loved. I run the Baby Luno Instagram account myself @babylunoshop. I try and add a few bits and pieces that are not just marketing, like some blog posts from, for example, the amazing Alice in Healthyland :). You want to give your followers some extra value. It’s all a learning process.

Not many people know this about you, but you run your online boutique Baby Luno, you are a mumma and you support your husband by living overseas with him while he chases his dream? Tell us more how you do this with children? This blows my mind! What a life! Amazing Lou!

Aww, thank you! Well we started moving around due to my husband’s career before kids and before Baby Luno. It was exciting getting to live in different places so I was loving it. It was maybe not ideal for my career. I was lucky enough to get jobs everywhere we went but we did decide to have children when we did since that way I didn’t need to work for a while and could just focus on raising them.

Of course, moving around does get more difficult when kids are involved, especially when you throw in different time zones. Sleeping routines are not always easy to follow and I am one sleep-deprived mama. Right now we are in the process of moving again and I am starting to sell and give away a few of the kids’ toys and it is not easy but I am so impressed at how well they are taking it. My 3-year old is now really excited to give away his toys and the other day he said “the boys who don’t have any toys will get happy”. That melted my heart. We may be raising a little minimalist. We have also started telling him how he will start at a new Swedish Kindy soon and he is so excited about it. I am amazed at how adaptable children can be – probably more than us adults.

There are definitely some challenges to living like we do but we just choose to focus on the amazing positives. We get to live in different parts of the world – really become a part of the culture, connect with people that we would have never met otherwise, see how a country really works and have very different life experiences. We love taking advantage of these opportunities especially when the kids are young before they start school. In the end, it is all about your story.

My husband’s career will not go on forever so we will settle down in one place soon but being from different parts of the world, I am sure we will always be travelling a little bit. It will eventually be nice to have our own place and decorate the kids rooms with our own furniture that we love and most importantly make really deep connections with people, be able to attend our friends’ weddings, birthdays etc that we have missed way too many of.

What is your favourite quote or mantra?
My favourite quote/mantra is definitely “The happiest people don’t HAVE the best of everything, they MAKE the best of everything”. It doesn’t matter what you have, where you live or what the weather is like, you can still make life into the best adventure by just deciding to be happy and making it the best. It is all about your attitude.

My husband and I also always have this saying when crazy things happen or offers come up from teams in cities far away, we always just say “It’s all about your story”. Make life the best story you can. When you are lying on your deathbed, that is what you will remember.

How often do you find the time to move your body?

I go to the gym at least twice a week where I either do a Body Pump class or HIIT class and take my boys with me to the creche there that they love. This is a booked in time that I never miss so no excuse. I get in to different routines in every place we move to. It depends what is best accessible to me – sometimes it’s bikram yoga or playing sports or just running but I have never felt in better shape than what I am in right now, which I am quite proud of. I may also have my boys to thank for that since I am constantly running after them (who are both sports crazy) so I hardly stop moving my body.

Favourite activewear?

I almost only wear SIX30 activewear. The company was started by one of my friends and I absolutely love her designs. She is also one of the people that inspired me to start Baby Luno because she also runs the website luxefitness.com.au which is a one-stop activewear shop collecting the best activewear. I love supporting small businesses and especially when it’s someone I know. I also loved Cadenshae’s nursing sports bras while breastfeeding – this is why I started stocking their products on babyluno.com

Something you practice daily that promotes self love?

I try and listen to a motivational YouTube video every day to get my mind straight. My favourite is Tony Robbins. He talks a lot about how you are in control of how you feel – it is a decision. The thing that always lifts my spirit though is just putting on some great music and dancing around. It usually turns into a family dance party since my two boys love to dance and sometimes hubby joins in too.

Favourite product/outfit currently on Baby Luno?

I love every single product on Baby Luno. That is why I bring them in because I want to make my favourites more available to other mothers because I had trouble finding all the things that I wanted when my boys were babies. I am so impressed at all the mumpreneurs out there that have created these amazing innovative products. The nursing activewear is definitely a best seller. Also I am really trying to collect the best baby bags out there and have brought in my favourite Swedish baby brand, Elodie Details, to make it easily accessible for all my fellow Aussies :).

What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/business?

Just decide to do it and decide that it will be a success! You don’t have to have all the answers before you start, you can figure it out along the way. Just make a decision about something and go 100% – if it is the wrong decision, you will either quickly realise it or you will be so invested in it that you will make that the right decision in the end and you will be a lot further than if you hadn’t made a decision at all so don’t be afraid. Everyone makes mistakes but you just make sure that you learn from each mistake so the more mistakes you make, the better you will be because you will have learnt so much.

It is also great to have a mentor. Talk to someone that has done it before and get some tips rather than trying to reinvent the wheel on your own. They would have already made some mistakes and learned from them so then you don’t need to make those mistakes again and you can learn from their mistakes as well.

#showtherealyou Rebecca Carr AKA @becbodymindsoul

So excited to introduce to you all Rebecca Carr.

I first met Bec at White Bohemian when I was working in store. She used to come in store as a customer and one day we really got chatting about her passion and that is naturopathy, yoga and meditation. This naturally beautiful woman glowed health to me, and I was always so interested to know more about her lifestyle.

When Bec decided to start her Instagram I was so pleased as she shares so many useful holistic health and wellbeing tips, her knowledge about yoga and meditation and some delicious nourishing recipes with her followers.

I was so over the moon when she said yes to being apart of my #showtherealyou feature as I know you will love knowing more about this holistic goddess too.

Sit down and put your feet up. Enjoy the interview with Rebecca Carr AKA @becbodymindspirit

Favorite hot drink?

My fave hot drink at the moment is a Turmeric late. I make my own just before I go to bed & I find it really soothing & nourishing. Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties. I love to think of my food & drinks as medicine & this is one that I like to include in my day.

Can you tell me who the real Bec is?

Hi my name is Bec, I live on the Southern end of the beautiful Gold Coast with my husband Colin and our three children Sienna -Rose (7), Xander (5) and Hunter(3). I am passionate about holistic health & healing, Yoga & meditation & living a positive lifestyle. I have always been interested in health since I was a teenager & that naturally lead me to study Naturopathy. I have been working as a Naturopath for most of my adult life & I love helping people improve their health & wellbeing.

I am currently consulting from the Golden Door Health Club Main Beach. Where I work 2-3 days a week. I find this is a good balance for me with family life.

I am also a Yoga Teacher & enjoy teaching private lessons from home or the beach. Yoga keeps me calm, centered & grounded. Instead of reaching for a glass of wine to chill out I grab my mat & bliss out. Often with Hunter jumping all over me or trying his best at down ward dog.

I have also been fortunate to learn Qigong meditation and this has really helped me to cope with the pressures & busyness of being a mum, juggling daily life and work.

We live near the beach, & being outdoors is a big part of our lifestyle The beaches are amazing & you will often find me there. It might be for an early morning run & swim ( total bliss ) or on an afternoon walk with the children & the dog.

To keep a good balance with family, home life & work I try to keep the rest of our life pretty simple. We go to the beach, to the creek, we love going to Byron Bay to a great place called the farm, we have yearly passes to crystal castle & the wildlife sanctuary & we go for road trips to waterfalls & the hinterlands. Balance is super important in living a healthy, happy life. Something that I am working towards daily. When I realized that everything doesn’t have to be perfect…that its perfect just the way it is…I started to let go & enjoy my life more.

Tell me about a day in the life of Bec?

Ok, so again with trying to create a balanced life, my hubby Colin & I have alternate training mornings or ‘me time’ mornings & this works out great for us. On a training day I will wake up at 5.45am & go for a soft sand run along the beach for about 5 kms. I may have a dip in the ocean or sit for 10 minutes & meditate. So by this time I’m feeling super proud of myself for getting out of bed & really pumped for a great day. It really sets the energy of the day for me. I will then come home and be tackled by 3 little ones and then make breaky. At the moment I’m enjoying apple cidar vinegar in a glass of warm water followed by my Green Goddess Smoothie. This is loaded with green veges so my body is getting a lot of nutrients & nourishment to start the day.

If it’s a work day I will take the kids to school & kindy and then will go to work. I will always take a nutritious lunch to give me the energy to get through the day. I like to take left overs as its easy to make extra the night before. I also drink plenty of water and herbal tea throughout the day to ensure I stay well hydrated. After I have seen all my lovely clients its time to go and pick the kiddies up from school & kindy.

If it’s not a work day Hunter & I will hang out. This is our special time together while Sienna Rose & Xander are at school. We will keep it simple & go to the beach or park and take a picnic with nourishing healthy food.

I try to keep after school activities to a minimum as this keep the stress down. There is a lot to do with 3 kids as they all have their different needs & they all want my attention. Dinner, bath, bed this is such a busy time of the day for me. AHHH im feeling stressed just writing about it haha.

Then there is me time…Yay! I will practice Yoga, eat a light nutritious dinner, chat with my hubby, meditate ( Colin also did the Qigong course so we meditate together ), one of my biggest luxuries since having kids is to have a long hot shower in peace. I will often light a candle in the bathroom and have some nice organic products to use, this time is a real pamper time for me. Before I go to sleep I like to read, usually only a few pages. And then in comes Hunter…and there is three in the bed!

We will have a date night or date afternoon every couple of weeks where we will go to the beach without the kids and then go for an early dinner. This is our special time together to connect.

I have 1 day to myself each week & I use this time to do something that will nourish my mind, body & soul. I usually have an acupuncture appointment & then go to a Yoga class and finish with a nourishing lunch. I look forward do this day so much & I feel refreshed, recharged & ready for another great week.

What drove you to create your Instagram account?

I started my Instagram account the same time I started working at the Golden Door Health club. It was a way I could connect with like- minded people. My mission is to inspire, empower & motivate others towards optimum health & wellbeing.

You have a big following of amazing women,  what do you think attracts women to your social media platforms?

I think that the fact that I’m showing the real me in day to day life with my children is something that women can relate to. I am a positive person, I enjoy life, I am obsessed with feeling great so my hope is that I can inspire other women towards greater health & vitality. The meals that I post are simple, tasty & nutritious and easy to make. Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring. I love chocolate as do most women & I think it’s something we can all enjoy. If its raw & made with natural ingredients & love our body is getting a lot of health benefits. I buy all organic food and use only wholefood natural ingredients. It’s very important to me that my children are growing up eating super healthy food as they are growing little bodies & they need it the most. I like to teach them from an early age what is healthy food, about vitamins & why their body needs it. So it becomes part of the norm for them.

You are a mumma and you have your own business? How do you manage the balance between the two.

Finding the balance for me means being organized, prioritizing what is really important, letting go of all the stuff that isn’t, having quality time with myself, my husband and each of my kids.

What is your favourite quote or daily mantra?

I have lots but the one that resonates with me at the moment is

‘I am a warrior not a worrier’

How often do you find time to move your body?

I love to move my body every day. Even when the children where babies I would have all them 3 of them on the stroller going for a walk or run. Now it’s a luxury to

go on the beach by myself in the morning. If I don’t run I will do yoga at home or go to a class once or twice a week.

Something you practice daily for self love?

Is Yoga & meditation. It’s a self love practice for my body mind & soul. It may be a dynamic practice if I have the energy or a soothing yin practice if im tired. Ive learned over the years to listen to what my body needs, to nourish rather than push and that sometimes…less is more.

What is your favourite piece of active wear in your current wardrobe?

Are my dharma bums yoga pants. They are bright & colourful & make me feel happy. They are also lightweight & super comfy.

Go to healthy recipe?

I am just loving my Green Goddess smoothie for breaky at the moment ( recipe on my Insta page ). Its packed with vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, fibre. Its also hydrating, alkalizing and a wonderful gut healer.

You can find Bec’s recipe for the smoothie HERE

What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/business?

Find your passion, follow your heart & be yourself! Your vibe will attract your tribe x

Runners or Heels?

Runners, heels are a lifetime ago haha!

Thank you so much for reading.

#showtherealyou – Ellen Robins AKA @thestylistmama

I am super excited (as I am a huggge fan girl and I have major style envy… eekkkk), to introduce you all the stunning and ever so stylish, Ellen Robins AKA @thestylistmama

Ellen is the founder and voice behind her fashion + lifestyle blog and social space – The Stylist Mama. In this space she explores her fashion trends and obsessions, motherhood, favourite products and the unique places of Brisbane she loves to visit. In addition, this babe she is the partner of Australia’s leading hair stylist Dmitri Papas, and the mother to their gorgeous mini babe Sophie (she is an absolute cheek squeezer, so cute). I absolutely love how she leaves her own personal signature and touch on all she writes and shares with her followers. In my eyes Ellen follows her own rules and really interacts with her audience, giving them what they love while remaining true to her style.

I have only met Ellen once before at a Babes and Picnics event in Brisbane, hopefully we can have a play date with our little babes again soon.

So ladies, put your tootsies up, sip on your tea and take 5 to read this weeks #showtherealyou babe …

Ellen Robins AKA @thestylistmama

Favourite hot drink?
My fave hot drink is defiantly a peppermint tea! I hate hot coffee, so not my thing haha- so a tea is perfect for me!
Can you tell me who the REAL Ellen Robins is?
For sure! So I am Ellen Robbins, and the #realme is pretty cruisey, actually very cruisey. I am a hairdresser and makeup artist by trade, so I suppose I am pretty creative as well, but to be honest I think I am just a mad perfectionist who is obsessed with hair and beauty haha!

I am the mother to our darling Sophie (18m) who was a happy accident, and my lover/ partner Dmitri is also a hairdresser! We live a pretty relaxed lifestyle but we are both workaholics (which is why I started blogging, because I became SO bored being a stay at home mum!!)

I live in Brisbane but am originally a beach bunny from Noosa!! I simply adore the beach and living that summery life, secretly I would go back tomorrow but we just can’t with the business we have here (which is totally cool, holidays for life!)

Tell me about a day in the life of Ellen?
Gosh, so many different things happen in one day for us, but generally…

We wake up at about 6am, get Sophie sorted and fed, I am a morning person so I tend to do all our day to day chores pretty early!

I try to escape to barre in the mornings most days which is AMMMMMAZING, so good for you and your mind.

Once I am home, generally speaking these days we have some kind of child friendly activity on in the morning (play group/ swimming lessons/ kiddy gym/ play dates ect)

Then after lunch I am home for the rest of the day, such a nanna (!!) but it SO works for us! In the afternoons, I meal prep, return emails, blog, check all my social media, play with Sophie, get ready for tomorrows activities etc…. BUSY BUSY!! Then in the evenings I am so relaxed and tend to do nothing haha!

What drove you to create your Instagram account/business @thestylistmama?
To be honest, like a lot of other mummies, I was bored! I also didn’t have many girlfriends who were in the same boat as me, so I felt like I wanted a friendship group who I could rely on without having to physically meet up every week (like a mothers group) I started it as a bit of a mummy blog, but it wasn’t really my jam. I didn’t have that much to talk about on the child front because Sophie was so easy, so I restructured my whole blog and mindspace and directed the blog more towards MOTHERS which has increased traffic incredibly and changed my whole outlook which has been really positive!
What do you think attracts women to your site?

I think I am a no bullshit person in real life, so the blog is really honest but its fun and professional. I don’t blog for anyone else except myself and find it a great outlet to offer advice and info. I am SUCH a chatty person, so being able to create lots of content on the things I am so passionate about seems to work with my audience of fashion loving women!

What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/business?

I heard this quote the other day: “So many people give up right before the finish line” and its so true! I have thought to myself so many times, why the hell am I doing this?! I used to feel like I was wasting precious time and energy, but slowly (verrrrrrry slowly) and surely it came to fruition, and I am so proud of where I am today. It’s a slow burn, so be read for disappointment but don’t let it dull your shine.

What is your favourite quote or mantra?
Ooooooh tough one!! “Quit hiding your magic, the world is ready for you.”
How often do you find the time to move your body?

I try to move everyday! I used to be such a gym bunny, but over the last year I couldn’t be bothered to be honest, and so I got into barre and pilates which I am absolutely hooked on!! It’s my one luxury that I do for myself. I think I go about 4 times a week!

My partner and I also go to boxing on Sunday mornings, so romantic haha, and of course, Sophie comes too!
Favourite piece of active wear in your current wardrobe?

New tights! I had a bit of a meltdown a while back because all my pants were so stretched! Good old Cotton On had lots of sales so I have a much brighter draw of tights now!
What is something you practice every day?
Patience! I am such a quick, impatient person- ask anyone! So these days, I am much more patient and resilient- especially when dealing with a little human who is just learning the ropes 😉
You are a mumma to the gorgeous Sophie (so beautiful) how has being a mumma changed your outlook on life?
Thank you, she’s cute, but definitely has a cheeky side! Motherhood has changed me completely! You have no idea until you actually become a mother, how deeply you change. Maybe not on the outside so much, but I have so much more love for women in general- who balance work, family, friends, husbands, home life- everything!

What does self love mean to you?

Being real. Not getting caught up in all the material stuff, having real friends who support you and can chat with any place any time and it feels like forever. Having a loving partner who is there with you through thick and thin, and just loving who you are. Like actually loving yourself. Being confident in your own skin, knowing your flaws but fucking those off- because you’ve got better things to worry about. Not being worried about other people, and just being optimistic about YOU! (to feminist?? haha)
Favourite pair of shoes in your wardrobe?

Eeeeeeep, I would have to say my sneakers at the moment! (Seriously, who am I?) But I have been wearing them so differently at the moment! Out for dinner with a pretty dress, and to events with leather pants and a oversized shirt. Love the versatility!
