Handmade with love & @willownoak

The last few days have been a little wet and rainy here in Brisbane so we have been hanging out in doors. It’s actually been nice to be stuck indoors (well sort of, I do have bit of cabin fever) as last week was Cruzie’s 2nd birthday so we have been playing with all his toys and it’s been nice watching him play with Winter Rose.

Last week I connected with the beautiful Melanie from Willow N Oak. She is one of the business owners of the beautiful store. That’s what I love about social media… the connection you have with people that you follow is so sweet and the confidence you have to start a conversation that’s can continue onto a virtual friendship. Willow N Oak is a small business ran by Melanie, Trent and Linda (the nana of the business). The clothing and majority of the wooden toys are handcrafted by the team. That’s what makes it extra special. I just ordered the most precious horse and carriage for Winter Rose for Christmas.

Melanie sent Cruzie a cute little wooden ring stacker. This ring stacker is hand made by Willow N Oak. Cruzie spent the afternoon stacking and counting. Winter Rose laid next to him smiling and cuing. It’s fascinating watching Cruz play with just one toy and it entertaining him for ages. We sat in the spare room while I packed. I set up the play mat for him and the ring stacker. He loves to count them and the stack them. He thought it was so funny when I put it upside down for him. He even had a go at throwing the rings to try and get on the stick. Bless him. Winter Rose even laid on her belly doing tummy time and was loving watching Cruzie stack the rings.

Melanie kindly sent Winter Rose the most darling little playsuit too. She wore it to Cruzies birthday on Friday night on its on as it was so warm, but today was cooler so we layered it with tights and a bonnet. My Nanny Pat thought the outfit was delightful and I have to agree. It’s so well made and has the most stunning details. The lady bug floral romper featured a touch of lace around the shoulders and the middle of the romper. The quality of the romper is just divine. So well made. It has little studs at the crotch to make for a easy change of the nappy. I think I may need to keep this romper and put in Winter Rose’s keepsake box to have when she is older, I don’t think I will be able to part with it.

Packing my hospital & baby bag for the labour & birth of my second child.

Photoshoot photographed and styled by Tahlia @wyldefolkstudio_

Sponsored by Baby Luno & Storksak

Storksak Noa Baby Bag. Available from Baby Luno.

Packing my hospital bag for my first pregnancy was very exciting. I Pinterested all these hospital bag lists and I was so excited with what I packed into my suitcase, ready for my babies arrival. When the time came, my husband grabbed the bags and brought them to hospital with us. I thought I was so organised, but boy was I wrong. I had really over packed! I had so much stuff that I actually couldn’t find what I needed, when I needed it. I had to much of the stuff I didn’t need and not enough of what I actually really needed. I was so overwhelmed. So I made a promise to myself that next time I would pack a little lighter and bring more of the essentials rather than all the extras.

I have put together a list of what I need and wished I had put in the first time, for both my hospital bag and my babies nappy bag.

#aliceloves Eco Tan feat. Bloembee Blooms

Thank you to everyone that read, commented and loved, last weeks #aliceloves mini Instagram & blog segment featuring Krew Active Cleo Express Feeder and a Posy of Bloembee Blooms. Your support means the world to me.

This week I am excited to be reviewing the Eco Tan’s Pink Himalayan Salt Scrub and Winter Skin Self Tanning Lotion

Firstly a little about Eco Tan...

Eco Tan was created in 2011 by the founder Sonya Driver. Sonya’s sister was diagnosed with skin cancer caused by the harmful Australian suns UV rays. They both wanted to still get a tan, but without the harm of the dangerous UV rays. They decided to get spray tans together instead of tanning in the sun, soon realising that the ingredients in most of the tans on the market were just as harmful to the skin and the body, as the skin is the bodies largest organ. So Sonya started  experimenting with natural and organic ingredients in her home on the Gold Coast. In 2011, Eco Tan made Australian history by becoming the first and only tanning manufacturer to be certified organic by the Organic Food Chain under the Australian government. How amazing is that?

Pink Himalayan Salt Scrub

As a pregnant mumma, I am super cautious about what products I put on my skin. I like to stick to all natural and organic ingredients where possible, causing as less harm to my baby as possible. Plus I want to look after myself too. I found out about this Pink Himalayan salt scrub about 3 months ago and have been using it ever since. I have shared my love for this product on my Instagram and social media platforms. I love it.

You apply a small amount of the scrub in your hands and work your way around your dry body rubbing it in a clockwise motion. Its smells of coconut, peppermint and lemongrass, argh its actually divine. I even use it as an exfoliator on my face. I like to spend a little more time on my bottom, thighs, elbows and knees. I leave it on for 5 minutes so my skin soaks up the moisture from the coconut oil. Then i just jump in the shower like normal and rinse it off. It leaves a light oil coat behind on your skin, leaving it feeling amazing! If I am going to tan with the Winter Skin I normally do this process the day before tanning.

Using the scrub on my bump!
Winter Skin Self Tanning Lotion

While I am pregnant I still have special events that I have to attend. I want to glow and feel my absolute best. So I have been using the Winter Skin gradual tan lotion, the night before an event. If I want to be darker I will just do two coats, one two nights before and the other the night before. I find one is enough for me as I don’t like it to dark. I highly recommend this beauty product, it truly moisturises your skin and leaves such a beautiful colour behind. I am obsessed, I know you will be to.

Wearing Eco Tan Winter Skin, one application.

I sometimes use this lotion when I am feeling a little drained, nothing like a bit of tan to make you feel good about yourself. I am so so please I have found an amazing product and can still hug my babes, knowing its not harmful to their skin either.

Both of these products I have reviewed, will now be staples in my beauty routine from now on. I love them both so much. I look forward to purchasing some more of Sonya’s Eco skincare products in the near future.

A special thank you to @bloembee for collaborating with me on this little #aliceloves project of mine. In this weeks Posy of blooms we had lisianhus, fresia, snapdragon and greenery,

Bloembee provides a posy of blooms, delivered to the Brisbane area from just $30.

My mummy must haves .

I have been using these items pictured above for quite a while now, I have tried, tasted and tested on myself and my little man Cruz.  I must say they are all at the top of the list for my “mummy must haves!”

I think it is very important to shop local here in Australia where possible and support these woman that are creating these amazing products that make our life easier. Not to mention they are also playing real life family woman at the same time. #girlbosses you rock!

I would love to share these handy, yet stylish little nappy clutches by Little Sea Luxe. Made for beach loving tiny people and mummas.

The clutch fits Cruz and my everyday essentials into them. I carry 3 nappies, baby wipes, keys, small wallet, food pouches, outfit change and nappy change cream all into this clutch. Plus it fits perfectly into my big nappy bag when I need to carry more.

Tiny Tonics have a huge range of organic goodies not only for your bub, but mummas too. Their products are all hand-blended. As a mum, it’s important to me to use only natural and organic ingredients on Cruz skin.

The sleepy time massage oil should be sold by the little, it’s part of our night time ritual. It secretly ends up all over my skin too. The bottom balm is great for those nappy changes and unlike other products on the market, it’s safe to use over and over again.

Milk and Cookies by Jewels, is a lactation business that supports breastfeeding mummas Australia wide. . I have been lucky enough to be a brand abassador for Jewels since Cruz was only a few weeks old. I have been munching on delicious healthy bliss balls almost daily and I love that they give me the confidence I need to assist me with breastfeeding my little man. I need that extra kick with my high interval training training. My favourite flavour at the moment is the lemon slice bliss ball, pictured above.

Another lactation booster I have been using for 4 months now is Mama Body Tea, Mama’s Milk. It’s super easy to brew, I make up a big batch of it to last 3 days in the fridge. The taste is so refreshing. I love it cold. It’s made up of a organic blend, that is truly important to me when putting it into my body.

Again it gives me the confidence that I need in knowing  I am supplying little Cruz with a good enough milk flow. He is gaining weight every week and has lots of full nappies haha.

My Tiny Wardrobe Sydney has the cutest little outfits and shoes for your little ones aged 0-5yrs. I brought these little slip ons for Cruz a few months back. Such a great buy. They not only keep his feet warm but he currently loves eating them 😂. Entertainment for hours haha. My next purchase is going to be the little ugg boots. I LOVE them. So adorable!

Last but not least I recently came across Pip Squeak and Co on Instagram. These soy candles are hand poured in South Australia and made with a whole lot of love. You could seriously eat them. They smell divine. My favourite and is burning as I type is “Ginger Nut Biscut” it smells exactly like its name. Takes me back to my childhood. Let’s face it burning a candle and having some mummy me time is just what you need at the end of a long day!
I hope you all enjoyed reading a little more about these Australian #girlboss businesses. I truly use these each of these products all the time and had a lot of fun writing this blog post. Hope you love them as much as me.
Happy Thursday’s everyone!

Big Love,

Alice In Healthyland
