Thank you to everyone that read last weeks first ever #aliceloves mini Instagram & blog segment featuring a Posy of Bloembee Blooms. Your support meant so much to me and thank you for all the lovely likes and comments too, you made my week. I always get so anxious starting a new segment. I look forward to sharing a product or brand I love with you weekly.
This week I am excited to be telling you a little more about the Krew Active Cleo Express Feeder Crops. If any of you have ever read my Alice In Pregnancyland blog, you would know that I am a huge fan and have worn these crops throughout my pregnancy. I love to wear bright active wear so these two vibrant colours that Krew Active have to offer totally did it for me.
Firstly a little about Krew Actice – Krew Active is founded by Kylie Rae Anderson and was launched in the Australian market in 2015. Kylie is a mumma for 3 and fektvtheir was a need in the market to start the maternity and nursing activewear company, due to feelings of being ignored when seeking maternity activewear in the major activewear chain stores.
Her vision is to allow mums to experience the convenience of breastfeeding on the go and allow more opportunities to stay fit, get active and remain social while feeding discreetly. Her garments combine style, performance, support and comfort.
I have found this crop great to wear throughout my three trimesters. The Cleo Express Feeding Bra has a wide non roll band feature, which is soft & comfortable providing support for your growing bump. I have worn these crops during high intensity workouts, yoga and for my everyday walking.
I look forward to using the crops for my post pregnancy exercise routine too ( I will keep you posted on the support of them with breasfeeding boobies). I love that they have a quick accessible clip, so you can promptly nurse your baby on demand (I have been practicing haha). When I was breastfeeding my first born, Cruz it was so hard to just lift a non feeding crop up to breasfeed him prior or after the gym session. So I cannot wait to trial these crops out.
A special thank you to @bloembee for collaborating with me on this little project of mine.In this weeks Posy of blooms we had beautiful yellow gerberas, light purple chrysanthemum, yellow and white lillies, and snapdragon. Bloembee provides the posy of blooms, delivered to the Brisbane area for just $30.
If you would love to be apart of this segment please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

This weeks #showtherealyou feature is the beautiful Lisa Hanlin AKA @indi.girl. I was blessed to cross paths with gorgeous soul earlier this year at a @babesandpicnics event here in Brisbane. Since then we have exchanged numbers and remained in contact. Lisa is so refreshing to chat to, she is oh so pure and natural, and has a calm ora that surrounds her that totally rubs off on you (even if she texts me I feel it).
I know you will enjoy reading Lisa’s interview, she shares her love for her new business, her #mumlife moments with the beautiful little Indi and opens up about her new passion for pilates. Ladies put your feet up and enjoy your 10minutes with Mrs Lisa Hanlin…
Favourite hot drink?
Black Coffee. No sugar, no milk just pure coffee bean goodness.
Can you tell me who the REAL Lisa Hanlin is?
I’m the girl who sees things with a different perspective. I always find the positive in any given situation. I see beauty in the rain, tears and dried out flowers. I feel for those who regret decisions. I don’t judge, I’m never jealous. I live a balanced life, sharing my time, giving my heart and prioritising my health. I’m at peace that life isn’t forever and that everyday we are given a new opportunity. Some might say I’m also a wife, a mother, daughter, sister, friend.. they are all roles. The REAL me is me!
Tell me about a day in the life of Lisa as a mumma?
Since settling into motherhood I have found how important it is to have a morning routine or ‘me time’ before the day actually starts. I’m up at 5am and give myself a good hour to set up for the day ahead. Meditation, exercise, lemon water and some quiet time.. When India wakes I’m ready to put on my mama shoes and devote quality time to her. Boobie, books, playing and more books. Followed by breaky outside, listening to the birds and some morning vitamin D for me! 9/10 times we get out in the mornings – whether it’s swimming lessons, a bush walk to the local park, wondering the shops (especially the pet shop), mama met ups or just lots of exploring around the house and playing. India usually has her daytime sleep from 11:30-2:30 (key word usually – as a mum you learn to be flexible). This gives me a window to explore the world of business, get creative, educate myself, send emails and tend to anything that needs my attention. Afternoons are spent hanging out as a family. Lots of chatting with Pete and playing with India. If Mumlife has been a tough day, Pete will encourage me to go and have some time to myself while he starts India’s bedtime routine. Dinner, bath, book, boobie & bed. Then it’s our time. Usually consists of us having dinner, talking for sometimes hours, prep for the next day, teeth and bed.
What drove you to create your Instagram account/business @indi.girl?
Creating my @indi.girl Insta account has been fuelled by my love for my daughter and my drive to share, help and inspire others. It’s been quite the journey and I’m learning more each day about who I am, where I want to be and my strong passion to help others. The product side of Indi Girl is my unique, handmade Baby Comforters to give other mamas a tool to comfort their little ones. They are practical, safe, universal and super stylish. Since creating Indi Girl I have a profound desire to share my personal experience through motherhood and life. I may not have the most perfect pictures, and beautifully worded stories but I have a big heart and a love for video and that’s where I come to life. For now I’m enjoying the journey, documenting my experiences, thoughts and feelings. I can feel big things ahead.
What do you think attracts women to your site?
I think it’s because I care, I genuinely care about people – all people not just mums.. and if I have an experience that I can share, good or bad and it helps someone else out, I feel happy. I have this energy of wanting to always better the people around me in a natural way. An old friend only messaged me a few days ago and she said ‘I want to say thank you from all the mummas out there that struggle to have a voice, I watch your page and read your posts and it gives me sense of belonging, knowing that a real person that actually exists has some real thoughts and feelings on motherhood. It’s probably the hardest thing we will ever do in life raising children, I’m just thankful I have somebody like you who is making things like motivation a little more easier to take on. People like your posts and pictures, but I just honestly wanted to say thank you. Your making a difference your making my time as a mother easier. Thank you for your beautiful look on life xxxxx’.
“awww thanks Lisa that is so kind of you to say…blushing”
What is your favourite quote or mantra?
‘The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return’. – Eden Ahbez.
Can I do 2 pretty please? ‘If you are not in a state of either acceptance, enjoyment or enthusiasm, look closely and you will find your creating suffering on yourself and others.’ – Eckhart Tolle.
How often do you find the time to move your body?
Daily. Even if it’s squats while brushing my teeth before bed… everyone does that right? Haha.
“Yes girl I do it too haha”
You recently started Pilates (and killing it babe) please tell me what gave you the courage to start something new?
Yes I completed a 6 Week Reformer Pilates Challenge at @pilates.place the end of last year. Pairing it with morning walks, Intermittent Fasting and eating for my Ayurveda doshas, I received great results. The courage to try something new stemmed from that voice ‘I’ve had enough’. I didn’t want to use ‘the baby’ excuse anymore. I literally whole heatedly just wanted my body to be healthy. The time will pass you by anyway – we all have the power and the choice to make healthy decisions and it’s through consistency.
Favourite active wear would be Lululemon, Lorna Jane and Pure Dash. I live in active wear so the investment to feel sexy & comfortable at once is worth it!
Go to healthy recipe?
My bestie in the kitchen is my Vitamix. My go-to recipe is my fav green smoothie. Spinach, cucumber, celery, green apple, ginger, lemon, water, ice. I often add Chlorophyll or matcha green tea powder as well.
What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/Instagram page?
Hmmm if I’m super honest – don’t put pressure on yourself to post the perfect picture, at the perfect time with the perfect hashtags. It can be time consuming – just let it all come naturally.. In saying that I can’t help but admire the prettiness, well worded and structured pages I follow. Haha. Just do what makes your heart happy, some people are more visually creative then others, some write really well and some of us well.. we just have a go, keep it real and hope for the best.
What is something you practice every single day?
Everyday I meditate. Whether it’s first thing in the morning, on my walk, or going to bed.
What does self love mean to you?
Self love to me means to be present and conscious in your body and to love all of you. Love your thoughts, love your actions and love your body and they will love you back.
Perfect date night with your man?
Aww the perfect date night with Pete – straight up I have to say we’re not massive ‘date night’ people. However the perfect time shared together would be a ‘day date’ haha. We would get up early, jump in the car and head to the coast. Brekky + coffee first and then hit the beach with our surf boards, grip ball and beach umbrella. There would be lots of tan time, reading, chatting, listening to music and swims. If we’re talking a real day date (before babies) it would include a cheeky beach beer, a late lunch and a quick skate board.. actually it would probably turn into a random night away!🙌 Oh Lordy I would loveeee this right now…
Can you share with us a perfect #mumlife moment you have had with your gorgeous Indi?
Perfect #mumlifemoment.. I’ve got tears in my eyes thinking about this. When India Rose came into the world it was the ultimate #mumlifemoment. Time had completely froze, I remember her scream and then pure contentment when she hit my chest. Her wide eyes locked on us, staring intently from mummy to daddy and back again. It still gives me goose bumps! Becoming a mother has been the ultimate gift and has opened my heart more than I thought was possible.
One struggle you would like to share as a mumma?
My biggest struggle since becoming a mama is the early days of breast feeding. I read Tahlia’s #showtherealyou and could really sympathise with her experience. Breast feeding is soooo much harder then I ever imagined as a first time mum. My milk was flowing nicely, we had ‘great attachment’ and India was putting on weight… but that did not stop the excruciating pain every single time she fed- and wowza does a newborn feed a lot! My pain thresh hold must be through the roof because I sucked it up for way too long thinking it was ‘normal’. It is not normal to be in incrediable amounts of pain and for your baby to be vomiting blood… I am so passionate about spreading the word to seek help, get a second or third opinion if you need too. Use a pump, bottle or formula if you need to, whatever it takes. I remember feeding India in tears cringing in pain… missing out on that mother/baby feeding bond that I so longed for. After 6weeks we seen a specialist and India had a tongue tie. Problem solved with a very tramatised mama. Anyway, how does that saying go – acceptance, enjoyment or enthusiasm.. I accepted it, healed and let it go. I’m proud to say India is 13months old and is still brest fed. However to all the mamas out there FED is BEST!
Thank you Lisa for sharing a fragment of your beautiful life story with us. If you wish to get to know Lisa a little more check out her Instagram here. @indi.girl 💗🙏🏼
When Cruz was 6 months I decided I would do a little #selflovephotoshoot when I was 10months postpartum. So now Cruz is 10 months, here they are. During the last 4 months I have been working on a little self love project with myself. To teach myself to be proud of my body and its achievements. I no longer want to waste my breath on self hate chat in the mirror. Instead I will preach love. The rules of the photoshoot was to no make up, just a little lipstick, just a home camera job (nothing fancy), no photoshop or filters. I have nourished my body with good foods, moved my body in some way everyday since the birth and rest when I need too. So hey why not be super proud of my body and my son.
I contacted Robyn from @yummy_mummy_lingerie to be apart of the shoot as I absolutely love her underwear she sells. It’s comfortable, its fits my new mum shape and I feel good in it. She has been wonderful and so supportive of my mum journey. I think its only fair that I share some love in return and tell you all about the woman behind Yummy Mummy Lingerie?
Why did you decide to start Yummy Mummy Lingerie?
Hubby and I decided to become foster carers in 2013 so I gave up my career in health to become a full time mum, but knew I’d need to find a family friendly business to work in as well. We had tried for many years to have a family and had only been blessed with one son, who is the light of our lives. We decided that we would like to grow our family and we knew that there were so many little ones needing a loving home so we decided to embark on the fostering journey.
It was a serious commitment to make, as caring for a baby would mean that one of us would need to give up our current career and be home to care for bub and allow for the vital bonding to occur. However, once bub settled in with our family and I had time to think about work again, I starting looking for opportunities. The first day I looked for an online businesses to buy I found what I was looking for in Yummy Mummy Lingerie.
It was meant to be! I just loved the idea of offering beautiful and practical maternity lingerie to new mums and mums-to-be in a super convenient way and helping make their pregnancy and breastfeeding experience as comfortable as possible. We were lucky enough to be able to purchase the business and now I happily work from home doing something I love, whilst being able to be there for my boys.
Best selling product on the website?
My best selling range at the moment would definitely be the Cadenshae Maternity Activewear range. The best selling style in this range for Yummy Mummy Lingerie is the Ultimate Nursing Bra which is designed for larger busted mamas. They have literally been running out the door J
The other range that sells really well is Cantaloop. They are really great quality and super comfortable as they are seamless. They are also well priced which makes them in reach for the many mums who hesitate or are unable to spend too much money on themselves.
What is the most common question you get asked by women when buying underwear?
It’s more of a statement than a question but the most common thing I hear from my customers is– “I am not sure what size I am”. This is not surprising is it as our bodies are undergoing the most amazing transformation J So don’t be worried if you don’t know – you are not alone J My response is to ask a few simple questions so that we can work out together what size would be best for them now and some styles that would suit that particular mums needs.
I first came across Kaotic Mumma about a month after I gave birth to Cruz. I loved her strength to be honest on her Instagram. It inspired me to do they same. Being a first time mum I was overwhelmed and it was nice to know that there was other mummas going through the same thing. I love how something such as a social media site could help you form bonds with other people you hardly know. I wanted to know more about this community I see on the daily on my news feed. I love to follow people that are real and not just a staged photo. I am inspired by people in this world that are raw and honest. So today is the first on hopefully many #showtherealyou features on my blog.
I asked Kaotic Mumma to share a more in death part of her journey with you all.
This is her story…
Kaotic Mumma came from starting a fashion blog with my bestie but then realising I wasn’t posting contributing to our collaboration as I was too self-conscious of being unfashionable while I was pregnant with my third child. So, due to my chaotic lifestyle, Kaotic Mumma came to life. For me, it’s also a way to find out about new brands, interact with other mums and keep a little of my sanity. I just wish I had started 5 years ago as a lot of questions I had could have been answered or made me feel less of a failure along the way.
I am Mum to three gorgeous children and have the most wonderful Step Daughter who makes our life a thousand times easier than I could ever imagine. Most of the time, I could not be more proud of the 4 children we have under our roof and am blessed to call my family. Our life is busy, but it’s great. Don’t get me wrong, some days are terribly difficult flying solo. The tantrums, the crying, the wanting to be picked up and carried everywhere…but this is my life. These are the choices we made. I am blessed to be able to have children and healthy children at that.
To add to our chaotic lives, I decided to study after having our third child and I have 2 weeks to go…thank goodness. Working 2 days a week, running a household while my husband works away 5 days of the week and studying has been a big challenge, but I can see the end goal of eventually becoming a national trainer in Beauty Therapy within the next 5 years. I have a basic routine in my life, which helps me get through each day – just to keep my tiny bit of sanity. Every morning I get up and I do a 5 minute workout. I find if I do this first thing in my pjs then I have my head space ready (most of the time) for what the day is going to throw at me…or what my “threenager” may literally throw at me!!!!!!
If I can, I will try to get to the gym. I am hoping this becomes a regular event in my week now they have just started to do classes with a crèche. Having Nug away for work eliminates any time I have to myself to allow me to duck to the gym, so to have the crèche open is a blessing. Gone are the days of Jameson (now 7 months) sitting there in his pram or being entertained by the staff…which is amazing of them, but does make me feel a little guilty to be working out. I find I am constantly in my active wear. Most of the time I have all intentions of working out, going for a walk or a class at the gym. Other days I’m literally going to do my housework or grocery shopping. Who am I kidding? Even just having coffee in my active wear. It’s funny, I am so naive about the many different and current brands when it comes to active wear but the great thing about Instagram is that I am discovering brands I never knew about. Now that I have started going to the gym more, I am looking forward to trying out some new active wear labels (let me know ladies I love a recommendation). At the moment though, my wardrobe consists of a whole lotta Lorna Jane.
When having a rough day, I honestly have no go to remedy. My family live interstate so I can’t call around to vent or grab a hug, I just have to push through. Sometimes I’ll have a cry, it can all get a bit overwhelming and other days I am not so proud of. These are the days I am short tempered and snappy, but generally I just stop…breathe.. re-group…and move forward. These are the cards I have been dealt. Breathe again!!!
My mantra is “trial and error” if it doesn’t work one way try another. I started this approach over 6 years ago with my youngest sister when my nephew was born. Every baby is different, each of my children are different. I very quickly learnt that if one way doesn’t work, try another approach. Life is a learning curve. I don’t believe I’ll ever fully have control of my life but at least I’m trying. Like most mums I have many moments when I am proud of the kids, but never more so when I hear the girls encourage each other or compliment each other. I love how they randomly say things like, “I love your pjs Livvi”, “Your thongs are really pretty Bella” or “Your hair is so so beautiful Bella”. Even sitting on the sidelines at netball or swimming lessons, they yell at each other, “Good job Ava”, “Well done Livvi”, “Go Bella”. These are my most proud moments, when they build each other up and support each other. These are my most proudest moments, when they build each other up, when they support each other. Slowly teaching them how to care for others and the whole “treat others the way you want to be treated” is rubbing off on them!!!! Then I feel like we are doing a decent job as parents and not screwing them up for life.
The team nutraorganics made my Peanut butter & Vanilla bark and featured it in their website. Feeling honoured.
Recipe is as followed..
Mix 3 tbsp @h2coco organic oil, 2 tbsp peanut butter, 1 tsp organic honey. Melt.
Mix in 1 serving of vanilla protein ( I used @nutraorganics vanilla)
Add your mix ins – 2 tbsp of your favourite granola or mixed nuts or even just berries.
Okay we all set goals with our body, we have certain expectations that we wish could happen overnight. Baby steps is what gets you there and you tend to maintain more.
I started off weighing 77kg. I got down to 57kg at my lightest, if I slowly creep but I get to hard on myself. I forget how far I have come.
I used to be a meal skipper and the binge on treats or eat healthy but not push myself at the gym. To lose the weight I trained hard and ate a very well balanced diet with proteins, greens and good carbs.
I continue to eat healthy and train hard but my weight has slowly creeped back up to 61kg. I think it’s because my head has not in the positive mindset!
Negative feelings about your body has been proven to make you gain weight due to your mood. When I am positive I am in a brighter headspace which clearly puts less stress on my body. I am less likely to get tired all the time, you can be more energetic with positive thoughts. I believe in myself more and I am more passionate about the good foods I put in my mouth.
So this weekend I am going to take the time to love myself more and stay positive.
