A few months ago I had the opportunity of trialing the Baby Bee Pram, ROVER at a Two Darling’s collaborative mini shoot. I pulled it apart, seen Emma collapse it and put it back up, we changed from bassinet to single pram and pushed it around with a toddler (single seat) and then with a newborn (bassinet). So, I thought I would take the time to write a review style blog as I have been asked numerous times by my mummy followers what I thought of it. I don’t personally own one as I already had a pram from my first born but I had a great go of it. Loved it, here is why!

What I love…

THE PRICE – I was so blown away that day after using the Rover, on how great the quality was for the price. I actually messaged the company, Babybee letting them know how amazing the quality was and that I was very impressed. For just $749 you get a #luxe 3 in 1 bassinet and  stroller that is suitable for newborn to the age of 4 years. Babybee also have different payment options like afterpay too.

FIT FOR A NEWBORN – You can swap the bassinet over to a majority of Maxi Cosi Capsules (a very popular capsule here in Australia) so you can take bub straight from the car and attach to the pram and you don’t have to disturb your little one. You just have to buy the car capsule and adapters separately of course. Check out their website for compatibility with car capsules HERE. The bassinet has plenty of room for your growing newborn. My little Lottie was just shy of 14 weeks when she was in the bassinet and was very comfortable in there with plenty of room for her to move around.

img_1556 2.JPG

FUN FOR TODDLERS – The Rover comes with a toddler seat, which my nearly two year old at the time sat very comfortably in. Can face mumma or face away, it is very easy to swap and change too. You can also get a skateboard stand attachment for older toddlers if you are expecting your second bub.

img_1548 2.JPG

LOVE THE HEIGHT OF THE HANDLES – It was so easy to push, manuver and turn corners. The handles are a great height and are adjustable to suit your height. So smooth to push the pram as well, I walk a lot and thought it was be great for long walks.

img_1660.JPG

LOTS OF SPACE IN THE BOTTOM BASKET – Because we all want lots of space for alllll the things right? I know with a little one I always have a nappy bag, snacks, water, maybe a carrier and my wallet on me. Plus I like to have a little space leftover for when I hit the shops (especially when trying to get your baby to go to sleep) haha.

COMPACT – I have a small car so this pram would be great for that. It folds up so easy and quickly so you don’t have to stand there at the car for ages fiddling, especially when someone else is waiting for your car park haha. It also can fold with the seat on too.

VEGAN LEATHER TRIM – Yes you read that right! #winning and a huge plus from me.

img_1587 2.JPG

Yes the Babybee ROVER is exclusive to online, however that is the reason behind why the company is able to offer these top quality prams at such a fantastic price. To see a virtual demo of the pram CLICK HERE. I would definitely recommend this pram to new mummas or mums that are on the market for a new pram.

Studio Pilates – My Personal Journey

I celebrated a win on Sunday! I did my 20th Studio Pilates class at the Wellington Point Studio. CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON!! Studio Pilates is a total body exercise, developed almost one hundred years ago by Joseph Pilates, to rehabilitate injured WW1 soldiers and later, for strength and conditioning of dancers, pretty cool right?

Studio Pilates is a total-body workout, with powerful cross-training benefits, focusing on strength, mobility, endurance, body alignment and breath control.

I decided after having my third child via a C Section, that I wanted to give reformer  pilates a try. I had heard from one of my girl friends how much it had helped her with her postpartum recovery, plus I  wanted to re build my body, make it strong and allow it to recover safely before returning to my usual high-intensity workouts that I love and have done for years now. During this process though I feel in love with pilates. I have a Studio Pilates down the road from me, with 3 young children , this was so convenient as I could sneak off early morning when David (my husband) was not working and do a class.

The classes go for a total of 45 minutes, you only have to arrive 5 minutes early and you just need light workout clothes and some grippy socks. Because I’m used to high-intensity workouts or home work outs using weights, I found it took a while to get out of the mindset that you really have to be dripping with sweat to get a workout. NOT TRUE BY THE WAY! Although I do still love to sweat a few days a week at home, these Studio Pilates classes were really something my body was loving. I found it helped to sculpt my body in places I have always struggled with. I mentally felt strong too, as I feel I was also practicing mindfulness in the class. I would concentrate so hard on the movements that my mind would only focus on one thing and that was PILATES!! I would also be so proud of my body and what it could achieve each class.

The class starts with a stretch, while you do that, the instructor comes and personally greats each individual. They also check in on how you are feeling and if you have any injuries. I loved this as I could explain about my scar and how I was feeling that morning after a night of breastfeeding haha. They were really supportive of each client and their individual journey. They also are there to modify the exercise if need be for you if you do have injuries or if you are more experienced. I find it very personalised.

I feel my body is starting to feel stronger, look more sculpted and my T Zone area and Pelvic floor muscles are improving with each class. I love what it is doing for my posture too, I have a natural arch in my back, so I have found that these classes are helping me to switch my abdominal muscles, pull them in and support my body when I am holding my babies or doing simple daily tasks. I look forward to working hard in future classes to continue to improve my strength too. I will be adding in some more cardio and weighted classes in the next month along side my Studio Pilates classes. So I look forward to seeing more progress and how Studio Pilates can compliment that too. I have made some new friends, found a new passion and I love that I am seeing improvement every class. From the moment I finished the orientation class I have been hooked, I will defiantly be continuing. Will keep you updated!

Our Lottie girl’s newborn shoot with Jennifer Horner Photography

Feat. Jennifer Horner Photography

It is with great honour, that I am able to blog yet another stunning, photoshoot by our now friend, Jennifer Horner. She has captured so many beautiful memories of our family over the past two years. Memories that have become photographs in our lounge room on the wall or on display in the hallway or in our children’s  photo books. Ones we will treasure forever. This time round Jennifer photographed our newest addition Lottie Jean, at just 14 days.

She has such a natural way with babies and children. My children are always so drawn to her. She is professional, friendly and a whole lot of fun. She uses sensory play and safe practice to capture your little ones. When photographing newborn’s Jen always has someone working with her, someone that has trained with Jen over the years and is experienced.  Jen was constantly explaining to David and I with rationale the safe practice of supporting a little one when photographing them. As Lottie’s parents, David and I felt perfectly safe with Jennifer handling our little darling.

Just like with Winter Rose’s shot, we again had a discussion of what David and I wanted to capture  with Lottie on the day. She allows plenty of time for the session to shoot, in case you need to breastfeed and have a break. She also sends through an email prior to the day, so you know what to expect, what to bring and some useful tips on when to feed bub prior.

I am so in love with the neural tones, soft pinks and creams, lush greenery, palm prints (so me) and all the extra little details Jennifer had prepared for us on the day. I feel she really captured those special memories of our darling girl we will hold on to forever. A favourite flower of mine is babies breath, I had my cousin create a flower crown of babies breath for our Lottie and Jennifer continued with this theme in a series of shots with a stunning flat lay of babies breath she got from a local flower farm that day. She truly does go above and beyond.

Jennifer has offered my friends, family and Alice In Healthyland  tribe members, a special one time offer to use on any booking you make with her. $100OFF. This is not something Jennifer does often, so honestly if you feel this is something you have been wanting to do for a while, just do it. You will not regret it at all, I promise.

Okay so drum roll please…

Happy Birthday – One + Only Beauty

Interview with Beauty goddess – Jamie-Lee owner of  One + Only Beauty

I have had the pleasure of seeing Jamie-Lee from @oneandonly.beauty for a little over 8 months now. Jamie-Lee is not just an owner of a beauty boutique, she is a walking wisdom skin goddess. She has taught me so much about hydrating and nourishing my body with good foods and exercise. Teaming it with good quality organic skin care and regular dates with her for facials and massage to help me achieve my goals with my skin – to have youthful, glowing and hydrated looking skin. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Jamie-Lee. I hope you enjoy the interview and getting to know this goddess a little more.

Firstly, a huge congratulations on becoming a #bossmumma and taking the leap to run your own business, One and Only Beauty. How has the past 6 months been?

Thank you so much. The past 6 months have been amazing. I won’t lie it has been overwhelming at times, but the highs far outweigh the lows.  I enjoy having the flexibility, especially with my two little ones. Being able to work around their kindy, school and activity schedules is such a blessing.  It was hard at first getting things off the ground, especially working from home, I don’t have that commercial exposure like most, so I solely rely on social media and word of mouth.  My clientele grew quicker than I imagined it would, and now 6 months later I see all of these same clients fortnightly or monthly for their treatments.  It feels fantastic to know they are coming back because I do a good job, and in turn they feel amazing when they leave which is all I could ask for. I have built some really special relationships with my clients, and everyday just feels like I am catching up with friends, I couldn’t feel more blessed.

You have transitioned to using just organic and natural products in your salon and practice. What was the reasoning behind this?

Yes this is something that I am really passionate about in my day to day life, so I didn’t question myself when I was looking for a range to use in my space.  After having my daughter 6 years ago I became really interested in more natural ways of treating her skin for rashes and her colds and flus as I was aware of the long term effects these nasty ingredients can have.  From there I haven’t looked back and I began to implement it into every aspect of our lives, from products to food to skincare.  For me it’s peace of mind knowing i am cancelling out as much of the “bad stuff” as I can for my entire families long term health.   When I was looking for a range for my space, it had to not only be organic and free of all the nasties, but it had to be active enough to actually treat the skin effectively.  I absolutely hit the jackpot when I found Eminence Organics.

How important is it to use good quality skin care products in between having facials and treatments?

When my clients come to see me for regular facial treatments, it’s generally because they have a skin concern or condition they would like to improve or fix.  The results of a facial are fantastic and your skin will reap the benefits for days or a week to follow.  But if we think of it like going to the gym, you won’t see results if you only workout once a month. Consistency is so important with anything, so your skin is no different.  If my client wants to see results, I always strongly suggest they practice a good skin care routine at home, to continue the benefits of the facial which will give them much  quicker results.

You talk often about nourishing our bodies with good quality skin food? Can you tell us more about this term?

This is my favourite topic of all, because when a client comes to see me, they talk solely about improving their skin with just products.  Yes sure, products are a big part of healthy, glowing skin, but what a lot of people don’t realise is that our skin is simply a messenger for what’s going on inside of our bodies.  I could write a novel on this, but I will keep it short and sweet. When you are not fuelling your body with the right nourishing foods, your skin will let you know in some way.  All of the goodness in food is essential for our entire body, including our skin,  which is actually the largest organ in the body, to function so that we feel and look our best.

What is your favourite go to skin product you can’t get enough of?

My favourite skin care product would have to be my daily moisturiser with SPF.  One of the biggest cause of ageing skin is exposure to the sun.  Knowing that I have the protection I need on a daily basis is important to me. Even when I am running errands or sitting near a window even, my skin is still effected.

What are you top 5 foods to eat to nourish your skin?

My top 5 skin foods without a doubt would have to be avocado, beetroot, cinnamon, fish and sweet potato.  Oh and always, always the green leafy vegetables.

Your mission is make your client feel like a goddess? What is something special you offer to your clients?

I have worked in the industry for 13 years, and during this time one thing that always bothered me, was having to have a client in and out of the room by a certain time.  If a client was scheduled for a 60min facial treatment, that 60mins had to include the filling out of the consult form, them getting dressed, the treatment itself, and checkout time.  I could never seem to get this right and my bosses hounded me for it.  I always felt like I was hurrying my clients in and out, when all they wanted was to relax.  I feel like one of my points of difference is this, to be able to take the time to treat my client for the entire hour without constantly looking at the clock.  Because of this I can really take the time to talk to my clients not only about their skin, but their lifestyle as well.  Lifestyle habits play a huge part in the quality of a persons skin, so to be able to properly treat my clients, we need to go through absolutely everything and focus on what needs changing and improving.  This allows me to give a really personalised service to each and every one of my clients, and it shows in their results.  Without a doubt a point of difference is my skincare range. I searched high and low for a brand that ticked all the boxes and Eminence Organics did that for me. With over 170 products in the range I am never restricted with ways I can treat my clients skin.  Not only are the products organic and bio-dynamic, they are results driven, so the effects it is having on my clients skin is incredible.  Their theory in the way the skin should be treated through their products is unquestionable, and my passion for this brand grows more and more everyday.  One and Only is just me, so my clients know when they arrive, they receive the same consistency in the quality of their treatments each visit. I strongly believe I go the extra mile to meet all of my clients needs and am so excited to continue to do so.

MAMMA Baby Care Electric Double Breast Pump Review.

mamma2.jpeg The gorgeous girls from MAMMA – SARA + ANNA

I connected with the gorgeous ladies Sara + Anna from Mamma Baby Care when I was pregnant with Winter Rose. The girls are Scandinavian Australian women who were good friends and became mummas around the same time. Sara and Anna are from the Northern Beaches of Sydney. After many walking dates and mummy catch ups the girls decided to create a double breast pump that was not only top of the range quality but affordable to the every day busy mumma.

I am extremely open about my breastfeeding journey. It hasn’t been everything I wanted it to be. At the beginning I had over engorged boobies which got quite painful. Then my supply went low when I started training. So I started pumping and taking lactation goodies from @milkandcookiesbyjewels to increase my supply. It worked a treat. After 3 months our little darling had only gained 500g. So I got some advice from an LC and a GP.? We gave it a little more time and I took some natural breastfeeding supplements like fenugreek and blessed thisile to increase the calories in my milk. Still Winter Rose only gained a little and was always hungry.

So we decided to give her formula one bottle a day. I give it to her either in the morning and try to give her EBM in the late arvo from a bottle. I love breastfeeding her to sleep in the evening.

So now I pump, breastfeed, sterilise bottles and formula feed. Haha! We got this though. My little girl is now thriving. She is so happy in between feeds. That’s what we want. Fed is best!

I love the Mamma Electric Double Breast Pump because it’s perfect for the everyday busy mumma. You can pop on the pumping bra, attach the pump and sit down why you express the milk quickly and efficiently. If you are wearing their pump bra you can do it hands free. So its perfect if you have work to do or a coffee to sip on. It has a timer on it so you know how long you been pumping for. I know I will love this function when I hear back to Work as I will know how long I can pump for on my break. The pump can be used as a single pump to, its super easy to switch between the double and the single function. The pump also has a 2-phase expressing feature. This feature gives you the option to switch between the massage mode (that stimulates and relaxes your breasts to start the milk flow) and suction mode that mimics your baby’s natural nursing rhythm. The pump has super soft silicone breast shields to ensure a comfortable pumping experience. The machine itself is so quiet too, so if you are pumping in the middle of the night your other half can still sleep or if you wish to pump in private say at work or at a event it’s very discrete.

The pump is cost effective. Only $249 for a quality electric double breast pump and the pumping bra. Seriously fantastic value for money, other electric double pumps on the market can cost up to $400-$500.

The Mamma Double Electric Breast Pump is defiantly a pump I would recommend to other mums. It has so many great qualities and I have only listed a few today. Stay tuned as in the next few weeks I will be interviewing the girls from Mamma Baby Care for my #behindthelabel segment too.

The ladies at Mamma Baby Care believe in giving back to the community and proudly donate 5% of all their sales to Forever Projects, who actively helps saving lives of little ones in need. All donations from MAMMA will be used directly to purchase lifesaving formula for babies in need through the Forever Projects team.

@xothreeactive #behindthelabel

I am so excited to chat with the three girls #behindthelabel of @xothreeactive. I connected with these gorgeous girls during my pregnancy with Winter Rose. I was lucky enough to trial out their new label on for size when they were still working their bottoms off to get this amazing luxe maternity and postnatal label on the market. So proud of all the girls for chasing their dreams and making it happen.

Myself in my favourite XOTHREE FOXY BRA HIGH IMPACT BRA perfect for HIIT training and post training breastfeeding.

1. What is your go to Hot Drink

Krissy: Soy Cap in a Mug (Half Hot Water)

Alex: Skim Latte

Bri: Almond Milk Flat White

2. Can you tell us a little more about the women #behindthebusiness at XOTHREEACTIVE?

– All three of us had early births, collectively we have been pregnant for 220 weeks and counting, 1 x breach, 2 x c-sections and 3 x natural hypo births, 4 x babies latched straight away, and 1 didn’t. 1 x IVF cycle, 3 x miscarriages, 5 x births, soon to be 6. Collectively we have spent over 1418 days breast feeding, we have 2x boys and 3x girls. The average amount of weight we gain through our pregnancy was 15.5kg, and many sleepless nights… too many to count…..

3. What drove you to create your online maternity and breastfeeding label XOTHREEACTIVE ?

Krissy: I remember when I was pregnancy with my first born (who is now 5), I needed to stay physically fit and strong to help me “carry” my pregnancy through to full term – This was due to a bad lower back injury. So with a focus on staying active, I found that as my pregnancy progressed, I had to buy 3 or 4 different sports bras to cater for my ever changing breast size… and that was just through the pregnancy. The real frustration came along once I started breast feeding.  Finding decent maternity active wear was a challenge. What was currently on the market resembled something my grandmother would have worn – plus finding a product with adequate support and provided easy access to feeding was nearly impossible.

I think at that time, many big brands were reluctant to give headspace to their maternity products and designs, knowing that most women wouldn’t want to spend money on garments that they were only planning on wearing briefly… and they were right! Back then, and even today – Women don’t want to wear an old school maternity bra for any longer than they have to! I remember at one stage I started resorting to my pre regnancy sports bras, purely because they were giving me the proper support I was needing, but that just ended badly with a painful case of mastitis.

So it wasn’t until I just finished feeding my youngest (now 3 yr), that I took the time to start planning and creating a product that provided the style, comfort and support that women were wanting, but to somehow make the maternity component discrete. Having found a great team of girls who have struggled through the same frustrations, and with the passion to make some positive changes too new mothers lives – together we are created some beautiful investment pieces that have been designed to live long and beyond pregnancy and breastfeeding – and to be stylish and supportive enough to be worn by women who aren’t even pregnant at all.

4. One of your mottos at XOTHREEACTIVE is that all mummas should feel great about themselves. What is something you practice daily in regards to self love?

Krissy: I allocate 1hr everyday to have some “me” time. Either to exercise or meditate.

Alex: Take time out to relax and to be mindful.

Bri: Each night before bed I think of all the things to be grateful for.

5. What is your favourite Nursing activewear piece currently in store and why?

Krissy: Sammy Compression Leggings

Alex: Aria

Bri: Foxy

6. What are 3 key things a women should look for when buying a maternity and breastfeeding activewear?
