I actually cannot believe I am typing the last blog of the Alice In Pregnancyland series. (for now haha) I remember chatting To Tahlia about collaborating with me for the #bumpstyle shoots and now here we are at 37 nearly 38 weeks finishing off the bump series. I have really loved building a friendship with Tahlia from @wyldefolkstudio_ while we did the photoshoots she is such a kind hearted person. I now have a friendship for life with her. Not to mention how blessed I was to collaborate with so many gorgeous labels and maternity brands. throughout the 9 months. A huge thank you to everyone that followed the series and continued to send through such beautiful feedback. Big Love to you all.
The last few weeks I have been on a emotional roller coaster. I have been so excited to meet the little one, I have had mum guilt with my one on one time with Cruzie, I have cried happy tears and I have cried god knows what tears. To me having a good cry really does help me just let it all out, breathe and then let it go. All these new emotions feel like it’s my heart is expanding and I am ready to meet our new little one now.
I finished up work at 36 weeks. Best decision as I was going to work to 37 weeks, the heaviness of nursing and being on my feet got to me a little. So I am so glad to be on maternity leave. It feels so different not having to go to work again.
I have been making the most of my time with Cruzie too. I have been taking him to singing and reading at the library, reading and extra snuggles at night time, park hangs and babycino dates. I am loving being off work with him again.
Everyone has been asking how Cruzie has been? Does he know? I think he knows a change is coming. He won’t let anyone rub my belly but David, he pushes their hand away or pulls my top down. We brought him a little dolly and he has been kissing it, changing its nappy, pushing it around in a pram. It’s so cute to watch. I think he will be a great big brother.
I keep telling myself that I need to slow down as my body is tired, but its true “nesting” is a real thing. I keep thinking of new things to do and clean. I forget to rest and I am on the go all day. Then I have the worse braxton hicks and back ache in the evening. So I should listen to all the advice and just put my feet up. Haha easier said than done though. Plus entertaining my little man. He sleeps well in the afternoon so I should just lay down then and watch some Offspring on tv. Maybe tomorrow? haha.
I went and seen my midwife for a 36 week scan and check up. The cheeky bubbas legs are sitting frog legged but the head is right down there. I keep thinking in my head that the baby will be here early because Cruz came early but I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I discussed my birth plan and what I wanted. My birth plan is to have a natural birth, hopefully not be on the monitor like last time, have a bath or hot shower, use essential oils and just have David in there. David is my rock and he really did help me through the breathing techniques last time. I do still feel anxious about the birth experience and labour but I am just trying not to think about it, what will be will be.
With eating I have been a bit all over the place.
I wake up so hungry and have to eat before I go for a walk. For breakfast I normally have smoothies or protein pancakes. Thats its the I just swap it up between the two.
Then for snacks I have almonds, nuts, apple or a bliss ball. Sipping on so much raspberry leaf tea to ha.
Lunch is lots of greens and a source of protein or a chia sourdough with cheese, figs and cucumber sandwich or the same combo on rice cakes.
I am obsessed with Bolognese at the moment with zoodles (zucchini pasta), I am addicted love it. I also love white fish or salmon with greens for dinner, I have gone off all brown rice and sweet potato probably because my belly already fills so fall at night.
Cravings – organic milk chocolate from Flannerys Health Shop … YUM!!!!
Walking 30-45minutes around the block (filled with hills) but very slowly as I get pelvic pressure. I put my podcast on and enjoy the metime I love it. Makes me feel better. I love doing about 20-40 push ups daily on the kitchen bench and 20 squats on the shower too. About 3 times a week I use my little 2kg weights and do a little arm workout too. If I have having an exhausting day I just don’t exercise at all. Maybe just do a stretch. The last week I have really slowed down, but thats okay, my body needs the rest.
So besides loose boho styles and a few tight comfortable maternity dresses I have been living in maternity leggings and a jumper. Argh so comfy. I do love dressing up the bump, but I feel my wardrobe has become very limited and don’t really want to add to it till the baby is here.
For this #bumpstye shoot I wore a dress I purchased for a hens day a few months back. Its called the FAWN WRAP DRESS and I brought it from the @theselfstyler online. Guess what they just restocked it too. You can buy it HERE. Its perfect to take you through your pregnancy journey and will be great for breastfeeding too. Its not actually a maternity dress but it should be its so comfortable.
Tahlia and I decided for the last bump photoshoot we would find a beautiful spot with long grass (secret location) and invite David and Cruz to come along for some family photos. We had a lovely afternoon watching the sunset and Tahlia came with her family too, so nice. I hope you all enjoy the photos.

Favorite hot drink?
My fave hot drink at the moment is a Turmeric late. I make my own just before I go to bed & I find it really soothing & nourishing. Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties. I love to think of my food & drinks as medicine & this is one that I like to include in my day.
Can you tell me who the real Bec is?
Hi my name is Bec, I live on the Southern end of the beautiful Gold Coast with my husband Colin and our three children Sienna -Rose (7), Xander (5) and Hunter(3). I am passionate about holistic health & healing, Yoga & meditation & living a positive lifestyle. I have always been interested in health since I was a teenager & that naturally lead me to study Naturopathy. I have been working as a Naturopath for most of my adult life & I love helping people improve their health & wellbeing.
I am currently consulting from the Golden Door Health Club Main Beach. Where I work 2-3 days a week. I find this is a good balance for me with family life.
I am also a Yoga Teacher & enjoy teaching private lessons from home or the beach. Yoga keeps me calm, centered & grounded. Instead of reaching for a glass of wine to chill out I grab my mat & bliss out. Often with Hunter jumping all over me or trying his best at down ward dog.
I have also been fortunate to learn Qigong meditation and this has really helped me to cope with the pressures & busyness of being a mum, juggling daily life and work.
We live near the beach, & being outdoors is a big part of our lifestyle The beaches are amazing & you will often find me there. It might be for an early morning run & swim ( total bliss ) or on an afternoon walk with the children & the dog.
To keep a good balance with family, home life & work I try to keep the rest of our life pretty simple. We go to the beach, to the creek, we love going to Byron Bay to a great place called the farm, we have yearly passes to crystal castle & the wildlife sanctuary & we go for road trips to waterfalls & the hinterlands. Balance is super important in living a healthy, happy life. Something that I am working towards daily. When I realized that everything doesn’t have to be perfect…that its perfect just the way it is…I started to let go & enjoy my life more.
Tell me about a day in the life of Bec?
Ok, so again with trying to create a balanced life, my hubby Colin & I have alternate training mornings or ‘me time’ mornings & this works out great for us. On a training day I will wake up at 5.45am & go for a soft sand run along the beach for about 5 kms. I may have a dip in the ocean or sit for 10 minutes & meditate. So by this time I’m feeling super proud of myself for getting out of bed & really pumped for a great day. It really sets the energy of the day for me. I will then come home and be tackled by 3 little ones and then make breaky. At the moment I’m enjoying apple cidar vinegar in a glass of warm water followed by my Green Goddess Smoothie. This is loaded with green veges so my body is getting a lot of nutrients & nourishment to start the day.
If it’s a work day I will take the kids to school & kindy and then will go to work. I will always take a nutritious lunch to give me the energy to get through the day. I like to take left overs as its easy to make extra the night before. I also drink plenty of water and herbal tea throughout the day to ensure I stay well hydrated. After I have seen all my lovely clients its time to go and pick the kiddies up from school & kindy.
If it’s not a work day Hunter & I will hang out. This is our special time together while Sienna Rose & Xander are at school. We will keep it simple & go to the beach or park and take a picnic with nourishing healthy food.
I try to keep after school activities to a minimum as this keep the stress down. There is a lot to do with 3 kids as they all have their different needs & they all want my attention. Dinner, bath, bed this is such a busy time of the day for me. AHHH im feeling stressed just writing about it haha.
Then there is me time…Yay! I will practice Yoga, eat a light nutritious dinner, chat with my hubby, meditate ( Colin also did the Qigong course so we meditate together ), one of my biggest luxuries since having kids is to have a long hot shower in peace. I will often light a candle in the bathroom and have some nice organic products to use, this time is a real pamper time for me. Before I go to sleep I like to read, usually only a few pages. And then in comes Hunter…and there is three in the bed!
We will have a date night or date afternoon every couple of weeks where we will go to the beach without the kids and then go for an early dinner. This is our special time together to connect.
I have 1 day to myself each week & I use this time to do something that will nourish my mind, body & soul. I usually have an acupuncture appointment & then go to a Yoga class and finish with a nourishing lunch. I look forward do this day so much & I feel refreshed, recharged & ready for another great week.
I started my Instagram account the same time I started working at the Golden Door Health club. It was a way I could connect with like- minded people. My mission is to inspire, empower & motivate others towards optimum health & wellbeing.
You have a big following of amazing women, what do you think attracts women to your social media platforms?
I think that the fact that I’m showing the real me in day to day life with my children is something that women can relate to. I am a positive person, I enjoy life, I am obsessed with feeling great so my hope is that I can inspire other women towards greater health & vitality. The meals that I post are simple, tasty & nutritious and easy to make. Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring. I love chocolate as do most women & I think it’s something we can all enjoy. If its raw & made with natural ingredients & love our body is getting a lot of health benefits. I buy all organic food and use only wholefood natural ingredients. It’s very important to me that my children are growing up eating super healthy food as they are growing little bodies & they need it the most. I like to teach them from an early age what is healthy food, about vitamins & why their body needs it. So it becomes part of the norm for them.
Finding the balance for me means being organized, prioritizing what is really important, letting go of all the stuff that isn’t, having quality time with myself, my husband and each of my kids.
I have lots but the one that resonates with me at the moment is
‘I am a warrior not a worrier’
How often do you find time to move your body?
I love to move my body every day. Even when the children where babies I would have all them 3 of them on the stroller going for a walk or run. Now it’s a luxury to
go on the beach by myself in the morning. If I don’t run I will do yoga at home or go to a class once or twice a week.
Something you practice daily for self love?
Is Yoga & meditation. It’s a self love practice for my body mind & soul. It may be a dynamic practice if I have the energy or a soothing yin practice if im tired. Ive learned over the years to listen to what my body needs, to nourish rather than push and that sometimes…less is more.
Are my dharma bums yoga pants. They are bright & colourful & make me feel happy. They are also lightweight & super comfy.

I am just loving my Green Goddess smoothie for breaky at the moment ( recipe on my Insta page ). Its packed with vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, fibre. Its also hydrating, alkalizing and a wonderful gut healer.

Can you tell me who the REAL Ellen Robins is?
For sure! So I am Ellen Robbins, and the #realme is pretty cruisey, actually very cruisey. I am a hairdresser and makeup artist by trade, so I suppose I am pretty creative as well, but to be honest I think I am just a mad perfectionist who is obsessed with hair and beauty haha!
I am the mother to our darling Sophie (18m) who was a happy accident, and my lover/ partner Dmitri is also a hairdresser! We live a pretty relaxed lifestyle but we are both workaholics (which is why I started blogging, because I became SO bored being a stay at home mum!!)
I live in Brisbane but am originally a beach bunny from Noosa!! I simply adore the beach and living that summery life, secretly I would go back tomorrow but we just can’t with the business we have here (which is totally cool, holidays for life!)
Tell me about a day in the life of Ellen?
Gosh, so many different things happen in one day for us, but generally…
We wake up at about 6am, get Sophie sorted and fed, I am a morning person so I tend to do all our day to day chores pretty early!
I try to escape to barre in the mornings most days which is AMMMMMAZING, so good for you and your mind.
Once I am home, generally speaking these days we have some kind of child friendly activity on in the morning (play group/ swimming lessons/ kiddy gym/ play dates ect)
Then after lunch I am home for the rest of the day, such a nanna (!!) but it SO works for us! In the afternoons, I meal prep, return emails, blog, check all my social media, play with Sophie, get ready for tomorrows activities etc…. BUSY BUSY!! Then in the evenings I am so relaxed and tend to do nothing haha!
What drove you to create your Instagram account/business @thestylistmama?
To be honest, like a lot of other mummies, I was bored! I also didn’t have many girlfriends who were in the same boat as me, so I felt like I wanted a friendship group who I could rely on without having to physically meet up every week (like a mothers group) I started it as a bit of a mummy blog, but it wasn’t really my jam. I didn’t have that much to talk about on the child front because Sophie was so easy, so I restructured my whole blog and mindspace and directed the blog more towards MOTHERS which has increased traffic incredibly and changed my whole outlook which has been really positive!
What do you think attracts women to your site?
I think I am a no bullshit person in real life, so the blog is really honest but its fun and professional. I don’t blog for anyone else except myself and find it a great outlet to offer advice and info. I am SUCH a chatty person, so being able to create lots of content on the things I am so passionate about seems to work with my audience of fashion loving women!
What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/business?
I heard this quote the other day: “So many people give up right before the finish line” and its so true! I have thought to myself so many times, why the hell am I doing this?! I used to feel like I was wasting precious time and energy, but slowly (verrrrrrry slowly) and surely it came to fruition, and I am so proud of where I am today. It’s a slow burn, so be read for disappointment but don’t let it dull your shine.
What is your favourite quote or mantra?
Ooooooh tough one!! “Quit hiding your magic, the world is ready for you.”
How often do you find the time to move your body?
I try to move everyday! I used to be such a gym bunny, but over the last year I couldn’t be bothered to be honest, and so I got into barre and pilates which I am absolutely hooked on!! It’s my one luxury that I do for myself. I think I go about 4 times a week!
My partner and I also go to boxing on Sunday mornings, so romantic haha, and of course, Sophie comes too!
Favourite piece of active wear in your current wardrobe?
New tights! I had a bit of a meltdown a while back because all my pants were so stretched! Good old Cotton On had lots of sales so I have a much brighter draw of tights now!
What is something you practice every day?
Patience! I am such a quick, impatient person- ask anyone! So these days, I am much more patient and resilient- especially when dealing with a little human who is just learning the ropes 😉
You are a mumma to the gorgeous Sophie (so beautiful) how has being a mumma changed your outlook on life?
Thank you, she’s cute, but definitely has a cheeky side! Motherhood has changed me completely! You have no idea until you actually become a mother, how deeply you change. Maybe not on the outside so much, but I have so much more love for women in general- who balance work, family, friends, husbands, home life- everything!
What does self love mean to you?
Being real. Not getting caught up in all the material stuff, having real friends who support you and can chat with any place any time and it feels like forever. Having a loving partner who is there with you through thick and thin, and just loving who you are. Like actually loving yourself. Being confident in your own skin, knowing your flaws but fucking those off- because you’ve got better things to worry about. Not being worried about other people, and just being optimistic about YOU! (to feminist?? haha)
Favourite pair of shoes in your wardrobe?
Eeeeeeep, I would have to say my sneakers at the moment! (Seriously, who am I?) But I have been wearing them so differently at the moment! Out for dinner with a pretty dress, and to events with leather pants and a oversized shirt. Love the versatility!

Can you tell me who the REAL Kimmy Smith is?
Oh gosh! Big question. I am still trying to figure this one out myself. I think that I am pretty authentic – what you see is what you get with me. But in saying that, I have had so many labels over my lifetime, I was a corporate lawyer, I was a professional Netballer (I played netball for the NSW Swifts and was a member of the Australian Diamonds Netball Squad),I was a business owner and most recently I am a Mum. A large part of the last two years for me is trying to strip back those labels and re-discover who I am without having to pigeon hole myself.
No day is really the same for me! So this was my Monday last week which is probably more like a typical day for me.
- Meditation. I do a 10-15 minute guided meditation. I love the app Insight Timer as it has so many free guided meditations. So I will chose a morning meditation and listen to that in bed with my headphones in.
- Movement. I do around 10-15 minutes of movement. Normally this is a short yoga flow to wake my body up and stretch out and tightness that has accumulated over night.
- Motivation. I read a little bit and do a little writing. My morning journalling always includes:
- Setting my intention for the day.
- Listing my Core Desired Feelings.
- Listing 3 things I am grateful for today.
- Setting 3 mini-goals for the day.

What do you think attracts women to your site?
Motherhood is an incredibly demanding time. It is easy to lose our sense of self amongst all the obligation. In some ways those early days of motherhood are like the perfect storm.
What is your favourite quote or mantra?
I have so many. I am constantly saying little quotes mantras to myself.
Not that I get it perfect, I often am acting from a place of fear. The work one is a huge one for me!
How important is it to you that you find the time to move your body?

What advice would you give to other people out there wanting to start a blog/Instagram page?
If you are setting it up to grow into something more than a hobby then I would really recommend being crystal clear on your “why, how and who”.
Why is it important to you to share this message? Why are you so passionate about this topic? How do you want to feel when you are writing and sharing? How do you want others to feel when they are reading your words. Who do you want to read your stuff? Who do you want to touch or inspire with your words?
What is something you practice every single day?
Yoga and meditation. I do some form of yoga and meditation every single day. I can feel myself becoming more and more the person I have always wanted to be and it because of my yoga and meditation practice. Some days are amazing and I feel such a shift in my happiness and my stress levels. Other days aren’t so good. I spend my whole meditation thinking of things I have to do. But I think it all counts – it all adds up.
What does self love mean to you?
I think it means a lot of things. I think that the precursor to self love is self acceptance. Being able to accept our whole self. The good and the bad. Our light and our shadow. Once we can accept all of ourself, then we can being to really show ourselves the love and respect that we deserve.
Perfect date night with your man?
We don’t get too many date nights! We had a night away by ourselves earlier in the year. It was our first night by ourselves in 3 years, so that was pretty special. I’d do that again for sure! But not too soon, I miss the girls too much! Such a shocker.
Can you share with us a perfect #mumlife moment you have had with your gorgeous girls?
The other day they both refused to have a nap. I was exhausted, so I took them both upstairs and we lay in my bed together and watched Beauty and the Beast. Allegra loves gentle tickles and Samara was tickling her leg. I would have bottled that moment if I could have. Seeing them be kind and loving toward each other just makes me feel like we must be doing something right.
Oh gosh, so many. My biggest struggle was probably finding my sense of self as a Mum. I felt really lost after I had Samara. I think I finally realised that I was a full on Mum. I spent a lot of time really discovering what it was that I needed to feel happy and fulfilled as a woman and as a mother. And then I spent a lot more time trying to find the balance between taking care of myself and taking really good care of my girls.
Chickpea fritters and a super simple salad of rocket, feta, walnuts and avocado. Plus a few little treats! A glass of Rosé and some raw chocolate brownie! Amazing!

Hmmmm now where do I start with this big, big list of why I wanted you to get to know my good friend Teoni? Arghhh so many reasons why! She is so so kind, she is a kick arse weight lifter, a dream chaser, has a huge heart, shredded 26kg, knows how to make anyone smile and has gained so much more confidence in herself since I have met her, that it will just rub of on you! Surround yourself with positive people and they will lift you higher right? Heck Yes Teoni makes me feel like I can take on the world when I am with her.
I met Teoni at Hiit Australia just a few years ago, we were both doing the 8 Week Challenge. I could see the determination in her eyes and the passion for her new found love HEALTH + FITNESS. I knew I wanted to hang out with this girl as she instantly inspired be to be a better version of myself. Every morning we would meet up at 4am before the 5am class to do our fat burning walk before class. I soon got to know her and learnt about how she had turned her life around for the better. As the weeks went on, she kept on smashing goals and her smile got bigger and I had found someone that shared very similar dreams to me. I had to snatch her up as my bestie!
A few years on and I call Teoni a best friend (yay I did it). She is one of my bridesmaids and I know she has my back whenever I need her. Always answers the phone and always would be over my house within minutes if I needed her! What a friend right?

Teoni, do you think you could share a little bit about yourself?
I’m 29 and for the last few years I have a new found love for the gym, fitness and health after being overweight/obese for most of my life.
You are one inspiring woman turning your life around to live a healthier lifestyle. Tell us more about your weight loss journey?
I was my heaviest at the age of about 20 I was 94 kgs (I’m only 165 cms) – was very unfit, unhappy, uncomfortable and lazy. It has taken me a long time to get to my current weight (approx. 68 kgs) and maintain it.
When was that moment in your life you thought yes there is no going back! What drives you to continue along this path?
I don’t think for me there has ever been a significant point. For me it’s about being the best version of myself and feeling comfortable in my own skin.
What are some of the challenges you have faced along the way?
I have definitely relapsed back into old ways a few times. My issue was more that I ate too much rather than indulging in things like chocolates, chips etc. I love food too much!
Favourite quote or mantra?
She turned her cant’s into cans and her dreams into plans.
When you need daily inspiration to keep going, which influencers on Instagram to look too?
I wouldn’t say that most of my inspiration comes from Instagram – I love following you of course Alice…you’ve always got a new creation that I want to make and Sophie Guidolin is fantastic on Snap Chat.
My inspiration mostly comes from the girls I train with day in and day out. We push each other at gym, discuss meal prep ideas/recipes and enjoy going out to breakfasts etc. Surrounding yourself with people that have similar goals helps to keep on track.
Favourite active wear? Being one of my nest friends I already know this answer .. haha
Lorna Jane – it’s rare you will see me working out in anything else. I love that the leggings last forever and I don’t have to worry about half the gym seeing my underwear through my pants whilst at the squat rack. They may not be cheap but they are worth every cent.
How many runners do you own? Not often I see you in the same pair.
I think on last count I had 14 pairs. My favourites are the Nike 4.0 Fly-Knits. My latest pair are Nike Zooms – still wearing them in and they may soon be a favourite. For the ladies who have smaller feet (up to a size 7 or 8) have a look in the kids section next time you need joggers – you may be pleasantly surprised at you can fit kids shoes and they are much cheaper.
If you could whisper something to someone starting out their new journey, what would you tell them?
If I was speaking to someone who wanted to lose weight, I would say that it’s so important to eat and not starve yourself. Create a maintainable lifestyle for yourself. I try to eat very well Monday to Friday but on the weekends I like to go out and socialise. Of course in doing so you won’t always want to eat chicken and salad but try to take the healthier option where possible – opt for grilled fish instead of crumbed or battered, avoid the hash browns at breakfast etc.
I’m such a believer in a good exercise routine also. We all have different schedules and budgets to stick to but there are a couple of activities that are always free…walking and running. Walk to the water, do some stair climbing, run to get your groceries and organise a lift home. I often go walking at lunch, after work with friends that have babies and school aged kids or go on the weekends – the time flies by as you chat and walk and it doesn’t feel like exercise to me.
Favourite cheat meal?
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day…I love heading out with the girls on a Saturday after a big workout and then breakfast. I love Acai Bowls, Haloumi and Coco Whip – If any of those are incorporated I’m a happy girl. I always make sure I train before having a big cheat meal.
Healthy recipe or food you would love to share?
One of my favourite meal bases at the moment is the Woollies Macro Organic pasta sauce. You can create so many different meals with it – Clean lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, marinara, use it on a wrap for a pizza sauce, clean chicken parmy or meatballs.
